I have no idea where you get your numbers, especially the 1.86:1 ratio unless you are adding up from the beginning (when HD-DVD was selling on it's own). BD has been at a roughly 60% ratio for 2007 and those numbers are for NA only. My point is BD is doing even better than that worldwide so where do your numbers come from? Who says? MS? I think it will one day, but not for awhile yet. There are far too many people in the world (including NA) who still do not have access to broadband. For many dial-up is still either good enough or all they can get. Digital distribution is the future, but storage will still be an issue for some time as well.

It's main purpose, besides making money, is to effectively test the multiplayer and ensure that everything is perfect for the actual game. They're also looking for any and all feedback that could improve the final version.

As for Alan Wake, looks good and I saw that same tech demo that blew my mind. Although I thought the demo was run on a PC. I don't have a 360, but I'll probably get this for my laptop.

Why not? If they're guaranteed money that they would normally have to make off s/w sales than why not? Why do you assume their main "user base" is the 360? Cause Americans buy RStar? Don't forget that MS has been burned with their development purchases and might not have been a player. This is like a free agent in sports, if they are available, you have to sign them.
