BB and DaS3 never required this, I'm unsure of the others, but you already seem to not know what you are talking about when using the phrase "Souls Borne".
Either way, this is anticonsumerism. Maybe not as bad as NMS, but it still sucks. I bought the game cause I was sold on multiplayer, then that multiplayer turns out to be a lie. The game is easy with or without a friend, so at least let me enjoy the game without having to play it twice...
@frostypants "SSD will help on the performance front, but you can do that with the vanilla PS4"
Actually a vanilla PS4 uses USB 2.0 as its connection interface. This means performance will not really improve on the vanilla PS4, but USB 3.0 will allow an SSD to have a bigger effect on the Pro.
The guy who quoted you is still most likely wrong though, as the problem people are having has to do with fragmented data in their storage space. A 500GB...
@thekhurg
Look at Bloodborne as an example. It may possibly be limited to 30 fps, but it is often running as low as 15 fps. When the Pro was announced, I was excited thinking that games like BB will finally be playable without these huge fps drops. Other games have this problem too. Allowing the Pro to beef up fps in older games is definitely the right move, and should have been done since the beginning.
Has no one heard of the Nintendo Seal of Approval? It didn't stop creativity from reaching the NES. It was there to try and prevent consumers from becoming victims of shovelware. It isn't a matter of taste, but a matter of effort. You can tell when a company didn't put enough effort into making a game and are just trying to make some quick cash. It isn't as complex as delving into opinions and tastes.
Senior Designer... Speculating how powerful a system is... I mean, why didn't you ask their mailman too? Something like a senior programmer I can understand, but even then it is still just higher tier speculation. Giving me the opinions of a designer, spelling doom and gloom, is just worthless clickbait.
@Chris
If I am understanding correctly, you are saying indies need perfect scores to survive? Well that mentality has led to me no longer buying indies. I've played too many indies that are hailed as masterpieces, yet fall flat in aspects that isn't caused by a low budget. Since they are being given leeway based on budget, I can't trust buying any of them anymore. I mean, feel free to mention the budget limiting the game in your review, but don't raise the score h...
Yeah, it pisses me off when these articles try to claim someone as a "game expert" as if their opinion matters and ours don't.
As far as my opinion, while I agree there is no definitive FF, I would say the PSX era of FF is the pinnacle of FF. Sure they were improving graphics, but they never compromised. Exploration was kept in tact and gameplay was ever evolving. The thing that really set it above the rest for me though was the focus on non-battle related ...
I camped out in Wal-Mart with a friend for one on release. Every single first party game was a disappointment to me, Sm4sh and MK8 especially. The only two games I would have hated missing was MH3U and hyrule warriors.
@sampson3121
Are you serious? You are trying to defend it not having multiplayer by quoting him saying that it will not have a massive amount of people playing together? Do you not know the difference between regular multiplayer and an MMO? The simple fact is that the guy lied when asked about there being multiplayer. He wasn't obscure, he flat out lied.
Considering the obvious limitations of the game, multiplayer is the only thing that would have made me c...
This attack on sniper rifles seems off to me. I use sniper rifles about 80% of the time, or more, in each battlefield I play. These feel just as hard, or harder to use than in any other BF I've played. I question why people feel they are easier to use. The only thing I can figure is that all the other base weapons feel nurfed, thus making the sniper rifles feel that much more powerful.
The writer doesn't seem to know what hard core gamers are. Of course hard core gamers knew what was up with the Wii U since before day 1. The problem was with the casuals that don't go out of their way to look up every bit of gaming news that is released. I just hope the NX is replacing the 3DS, or at least gets another monster hunter. Also hope NOA calms down on their censorship craze.
Hating on XII's story and saying it had the best gameplay? That is a bit backward. Story would have been good if not for the 2 unnecessary children added last minute to the game. Also, gambits destroyed gameplay. Get half way through the game and now gambits will play the game for you. XII definitely earns a lower spot on the list.
Also, IX had a nice aesthetic that is a lot more rare, and a lot more pleasing than these dime a dozen realistic aesthetics. Vivi, Ste...
You can exert a level of control over mods. For example, even though I doubt they would ever allow mods in CoD, they could allow mods for certain modes. Campaign multiplayer is where they would make money on DLC, so that is where mods would be disallowed.
Also, mods are already rare enough on PC. It is unlikely that they could ever replace DLC.
20%, points earning you certificates, $10 preorder bonuses, free shipping, cheaper membership fee, and even price matching with Amazon. Financially, nothing compares to best buy for buying games.
Yeah, when I got the email, first thing I looked for was that 20%. They ruined GC once before, so it scared me.
Also BF ads tend to last longer than just a few hours now. Last year I got a game on that Sunday when the store was more peaceful. I beat it in a week, and thanks to GCU, I traded it into best buy and ended up with around $10 more than what I paid. It is sad to see that going away since it makes it safe to buy any games you are borderline on.
Onechanbara is on my back log, but from what I did play, the gameplay feels solid. I've also never heard anyone say anything bad about the game. I doubt the writer has ever touched the game, and just hates it on principle because the women show some skin.
Seriously, people need to learn that fan service doesn't automatically make a game bad.
That was the point of saying "could have". People use that outage as an excuse to say XBL is better. The simple fact is that it could have been any company. XBL could have been hacked, then it would be PS fanboys claiming to have the superior service for irrelevant reasons. Cyber security is a big issue every company faces, and no company is 100% protected from.
Also, PSN can and has had dedicated servers for games. Dedicated servers cost money, and most co...
Xbox 360 only unlocked the potential for us to pay for online. PS3's online did everything online needs to do. XBL could have been hacked just like PSN. Also XBL brought us the worst feature in my opinion. From my experience, lobby chat has dropped to abysmal levels thanks to party chat. Yay you can chat with your friends rather than actually being part of the game you are playing...
Wii U isn't fully BC. BC and emulation are two different things. If emulation is the only thing a system has going for it, then you are much better off with a PC for that purpose.
@Goldby
You seem to have gotten some good replies on my behalf, but I will go ahead and reply to.
"Nioh is still MP, what are you even goign on about."
It has multiplayer, but not the type of multiplayer I was sold on. I can't 100% explore the game together with a friend for the very first time.
"He used the souls borne phrase for bloodborne and darksouls games. and some areas of bloodborne require you to either beat...
