I found Spirits Within to be a pretty bad movie, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a big FF fan. It should have been replaced with RE on the list. I also thought RE2 was still good, but 3 is when they lost it. They ruined the movies in the same way they ruined the games...
Are they considering ports to be new releases each month? I'm still waiting for a second worthwhile title to come out. I mean sure I own 4 games that I enjoy playing, but only 1 of those 4 are even worth buying the system for, and you can emulate it with better graphics. While it is a big improvement over Wii U days, this is just a mediocre year for Nintendo. Next year might be great though.
There is a difference between improving a game, and just flat out changing it. Hopefully they don't turn their games into those "monster hunter clones" that never hit the mark.
@munch "cheap graphics" Why are you reading an article about PS classics that need to be remade when you clearly aren't old enough to have grown up with them, and are too spoiled to play something that old? Clearly old games are not your thing and that is alright. Games would suck if each game was made to appease everyone instead of just appeasing the few that want to play them. Go back to enjoying your interactive movies and let us older folks daydream about remakes of t...
While I didn't want FF to go ARPG either way, I was liking what I was seeing from Nomura's Versus XIII more than what we got with XV. To top it off, I found Type-0 to be too flawed to be able to get too far into the game. But no matter which director you like more, can we at least agree that Toriyama is the real threat?
@moldy I usually find your opinions to be shortsighted and a bit fanboyish, but you are spot on for a change. If the boundaries of cross play are brought down then people are no longer tied to a system due to their buddies using that system. This is nothing but a benefit for consumers, and would help push Sony to make competitive decisions again like adding in BC.
As far as people fearing Sony losing sales if they add cross play, that is a possibility but not a guarante...
@IGiveHugs Even though I have a 4K TV, I still run games at 1080p on my PS4 Pro. Neither of these 2 consoles have necessarily missed the mark.
@Batman It can not only slow down progress in other areas, but it can even go as far as to reverse progress.
Right, our equipment can't achieve it. The Xbox One X can't achieve it. The PS4 Pro can't. Not even top of the line PC's can currently achieve it. Sure, they can all obtain 8.3 megapixels, but what are you doing with those pixels? The pixels are there to display a picture, but what does that matter if you have to give up all of your graphical effects to achieve it? What are you displaying anymore except a shitty looking game? 1080p ultra settings at 60 fps will trump 4K...
Hearing them say "Exclusive" every ten seconds in an obnoxious voice was hard to swallow. What makes matters worse is just about none of the games were exclusive, so I had to hear that voice over and over for nothing. Call it petty, but that made their show an instant fail for me. Your show can't be a winner if you make it unbearable to watch...
Yes I made an assumption. Again, there is nothing wrong with making an assumption. Even when using old sales numbers from half a year ago it isn't much better. I am not manipulating data. I'm breaking down the data into sizes that are easier to comprehend. One site made a claim, MS tried to deny that claim with numbers, but those numbers seem to support that MS is correct to deny them. Compared to all other activities on Xbox One, BC does NOT account for a large percent of time ...
@JasonKCK Yes 30m is an assumption. The question is, is it a realistic assumption? There were 26m units sold by the end of 2016. Is 4m hard to believe for half a years worth of sales? Screw it, lets use 26m even though we KNOW that is lowballing it. That brings it up from 12.58 minutes a week to 14.52 minutes a week. This doesn't change anything in a significant manner, so please stop clinging on to the word "assumption" as if it is a bad thing.
Also, a...
@JasonKCK Yes, 50% confirms how many users have used the BC, even if the person only used it for a minute. Ars Technica didn't focus their study on a specific group of users though. They were trying to report how much BC was used by ALL users. So when looking at that 1.5% number, you can't cherry pick the people who use BC. It wouldn't even make sense to do that. Hell, 50% actually makes it worse. So that means among the people using BC, they only use it about 25 minutes a ...
Take 508m divided by Xbox One owners, assuming 30m. So each user averages 16.93 hours since BC was launched. So that becomes 0.89 hours a month, or about 12.58 minutes a week. So if that is 1.5% then that means each owner averages 13.98 hours using their Xbox One a week. Is it so hard to believe that Xbox One users at least average 14 hours a week playing games AND doing other stuff such as watching Netflix? If anything, these new numbers lead me to believe that 1.5% is actually high....
DMCA prohibits bypassing copyright measures. That means any console with copyright measures built into the system is illegal to emulate. Only early consoles are legal to emulate. Just because action isn't taken against people making emulators, yet, that doesn't make it legal.
The term has been around for years. Bricking a device means you have essentially turned it into a "brick" as it no longer works. Soft bricking means that it can be easily repaired, assuming you know how to repair it. Hard bricking usually requires something along the lines of replacing a piece of hardware, thus being irreparable unless you are lucky enough to have access to those parts.
Since this is soft bricking, anyone who calls it such is already admitti...
I bought it because games like BloodBorne reach some unbearably low fps. Sure, at first there wasn't any boost for old games, but I hoped that would change. Sure, it may not be the biggest boost in the world, but every fps counts when the game gets as low as it does. Even 3 fps is a welcome improvement.
With the visuals I've seen so far, and the small fps improvement, I have to wonder what doesn't qualify me as a "playstation enthusiast"? Hell, I...
@meganick
Have you never played IX? Multiplayer is seamlessly built into the experience. That is part of the reason for the character creation. You can do things like go into dungeons with friends, and even progress the story with friends. The person hosting a session is the only one that progresses though so you have to go back and redo the story for the other person. I've spent plenty of time playing through the game with my best friend.
Also, X is an MM...
DQ IX was a multi-player game (not mandatory mind you) with character creation. It is not exactly a "traditional" DQ game.
Sad thing is one of the problems is too many devices are connecting wirelessly, thus causing the air space to be oversaturated with signals. So Nintendo's solution is to not include an Ethernet port on the dock to relieve this problem some. Maybe people will eventually catch on to the benefits of setting up a wired network.
Private industry blows MS engineers out of the water. Even Google is leagues better. When considering game consoles only though, the PS4's OS started off leagues better than the XB1. Updates on the 360's layout always seemed to make the system worse too. I don't know how the XB1 OS is now, but their track record leads me to believe it probably isn't good.
