That is why you can use any USB HDD/SSD as backup for series x games, but you will need to install them to the internal/External SSD card in order to play.
@Razzer
"sigh"
Ok, the expandable hardware to mimick the internal SSD of the series X is proprietary, in other words, to mimick that hard drive, you need the card. Proprietary means ownership, in other words, no 3rd party can make an expansion card to go in that slot. But you do not NEED to buy that card, you can attach a USB SSD to the console to use as external storage.
"The back of the Xbox Series X has a port dedicate...
@Army
from the digital foundry analysis of Gears 5, ported to xbox series x in 2 weeks :-
"we were shown benchmark results that, on this two-week-old, unoptimised port, already deliver very, very similar performance to an RTX 2080."
This is not proprietary either, from the article :-
USB 3.2 HDD Support
separate from the :-
1TB Expansion Card
@Shaggy
Or you have 2 options, a normal USB external SSD, or the card SSD if you dont want the clutter.
@Razzer
Probably the same as a normal external SSD.
Seagate have had a deal with microsoft for a while regarding expansion hard drives, and the 2tb xbox branded external, was the same price as the seagate 2tb external.
@Twignberries
As far as i am aware - PS5 is only confirmed to "support" hardware accelerated ray tracing. We all know how "4k support" worked out this gen for games.
Xbox series X is on the record as using DirectX Hardware accelerated ray tracing.
@waverider
What is the game lacking? 4 hours of cinematic cut-scenes?
I would say PS5 (Spiderman in the background at the start kinda gives this away)
Plus i think Xbox Series X is hardware accelerated ray tracing
Makes sense with GDC being re-scheduled for the summer.
They will talk about what was planned at GDC 2020.
Or maybe it is just because GDC has been re-scheduled, so rather than not speak about what they would have at GDC, they are just doing a live-stream.
Maybe.... just maybe...
@generic
Yeah your right, let's educate stupidness. People that say/do things wrong, need to be corrected to educate them and make the human race smarter.
But it still does not "need" it
No thanks, why remaster a game that is primarily only played online these days?
Activision remaster online, yeah ok, more chance of PS4 exclusives coming to xbox.
not a case of what it needs, it is a case of what the developer wants their game to be like/what they want their fans to experience.
You could say "Does the last of us really need to run in 1080p?" same argument
@Melankolis
An indie game is defined by studio size/budget, the other end of the scale is AAA.
@Army
What time and resources? All it will be is a little patch, like from xbox one, to xbox one x
when discs are obsolete they will all be streaming/download platforms
Well covid-19 is on the decline in china as we speak, so i call delays a load of fud.
You can use any USB external as storage, and then install the game to the internal when you want to play.
