Emulating the PS3 is not impossible, there are emulators on the PC for all consoles available, granted some may not work correctly, but some work.
The issue is not with the emulation, but rather the licensing required in order to have certain games emulated.
For instance, Sony or Microsoft can not just do BC for any game, they need the developers/pub...

On the Sony side, i think they have yet to announce how expandable storage mediums will work, whether they go with matching the internal SSD like Microsofts 1tb expansion, or something else.
On Xbox Series X, you can either :-
1) Purchase the external 1tb SSD that matches the internal, so games can be ran from the external card at the same fidelity etc.
2) Purchase any USB HDD/SSD expansion drive to use as storage, when these games are ...
You don't need any kind of special boost mode.
Just emulate the PS3 at a software level.
If the average joe can create fully working emulators on the PC, without the need for specialised hardware, you think Sony or anyone else for that matter do not have the know how lol?

Anyone knows if you try to run a game on the minimum requirements, it runs like dirt, with screen-tearing, pop-in the lot.
You should have compared with official recommended requirements. Which will probably run the game at a stable 45-60fps. For Ultra settings, you will need well above the recommended specs.
I know, allowing more gamers to experience your games, is shocking behaviour in this day and age and should be condemned at every opportunity!!! /s
That is probably why Sony are starting to dip into the PC crowd, but when they do it it will be fine.

I think you will find the tie-ratio is higher on xbox one than PS4.
That means gamers buy more games per console, than they do on PS4.
And you would expect a console that has sold 2:1 over the competition to have sold more software, but if they had sold equal amounts, then xbox one would have higher software sales.

Phil has given us gamepass, given us backwards compatibility (over 2 gens OG xbox/xbox360), binned the kinect, invested in 1st party, gave us the worlds most powerful console (Xbox one X), and eradicated the failure of a message that was the xbox one launch.

Are you sure you were not using the upgrade/conversion deals for Ultimate?
These you can use multiple times if you convert gold sub to gamepass sub. The model in place is trial for new customers.
I do not think the Series S will be weaker than the xbox one X.
Xbox one X is 6tflops. So i would say a Series S would come in at 8tflops.
They can not just do "full BC", they need to re-license each game with the publishers/developers.
So as ilostmymind says, the ones they get the licenses for will be BC
