Any geeks out there feeling butt-hurt because of the president's comments probably do need to put the controller down & do some excercise for a change. Only an overly obsessed video game nerd with no life would feel insulted.
It is funny when "gamers" are so biased that they don't even know what games are out for both systems, but yet still try to talk smack. Just about every game worth buying is multiplatform. Plus there are cool exclusives for both systems. Both systems have cool downloadable games. You would think people that take the time to blog about games, acting like experts would take the time to learn instead of talking smack.
Personally I have no axe to grind with Microsft. I j...
I think on the Net people get hung up on this concept of Sony needing to make up the the total sales gap, when the 360 was out on the market before the PS3 was. I think that is irrelevent to a corporation that looks at quarterly sales, not at how many devices have already been sold. Both have enough untis sold to be viable for software makers to continue to develop for, so no biggy on the total unit sold.
I don't think either company is going to be "in trouble" with their current offerings. Both will sell. But the basic rules of consumer habits apply, even in game consoles. The product that gives you the most features for the same price will consistently sell more, even when the new "cool" factor wears off. I would think Microsft, being the smart company they are, would probably be looking into standardizing some features they used to charge extra for, and adding blu ray in...
If you get away from all the fanboy noise, and look at the current situation from an unbiased product evaluation standpoint, a consumer will see that the PS3 is now a better value in doing a side by side comparison.
Game content is not an issue anymore, becaue both systems have lots of great games to choose from.
Online community is a sales influence, but not as big of one as hardware value to new consumers.
The bottom line really is just like any...
You think a plastic video game box is all that is man? Not planning becoming a breeder huh?
44, and not fat, not depressed, lovin' life, and been loving video games since we had a Pong console player when I was a kid. ;-)
I agree, and laugh at the haters that hope the system they bought wins the battle, and puts the other one out of the game business. Be careful what you wish for. As a PS3 owner, I love that Microsoft keeps pushing them. It is a win for me. Without competition, the only choice on the market will be overpriced, half baked products.
Hardcore gamer? Does that mean you watch porn on your console?
Puhleeze...this "We are hardcore" thing is the most geekiest, nerdiest, delusion of granduer silliness in gamer talk these days. Those of us that have been playing video games since pong came out laugh people making these statments.
In the long run more fetaures for the same price is going to always be the choice for new consumers making a decision to jump into the next gen consoles.
Microsoft got a good head start on Sony, so their selling point is a strong online community. Those wanting to join that, will choose the 360.
But there are a lot of potrntial customers out there that won't take that into consideration with the additonal network cost if they are not having influence from friends...
For Microsoft to compete long term is to have a box that will not be obsolete in the next several years, and offer the same standard features for price (blu ray, wifi, free networking). Sony has taken it on the chin inititally in the next gen sales because they wanted to build a box that will still be viable in a ten year product lifecycle. That is always a slow start, finish strong strategy when a company is trying to push the envelope with newer technologies that are inititally more pricey ...
As the man said, some games are toys for kids, some are entertainment for adults. As long as parents know which are which, then no big deal.
It's surprising to see an article just talk about features for cost these days. You know - that criteria we base all purchases on with competing products. Only in gaming, do discussion never really talk tech and value of a product based upon features in relation to price. I find this to be amsuing, because video games are a high tech industry. For whatever reason the people most into them seem to be totally clueless on discussing things at an unbiased perspective at the technology & produ...
I like Japanese sensibilities with games...they are not afraid to be a little naughty & sexy in their content. American's are very confused on sexuality, with half the country thinking no big deal, and the other half very prudish, ready to get out & protest this kind of stuff.
The only voices I ever want to hear is a good friend playing a game with me. Everyone else in cyberspace gets the big MUTE from me. I don't wanna hear it.
haha, people on game sites & blogs really over dramatize the business aspects. The game business is so large, that three consoles can easily stay in the market & be profitable.
There is no war. Some people prefer the Sony product. Some people prefer the Microsoft product. And if you read the blogs, you can see a lot of consumers are going to stay loyal to their brand of choice. People can call it war, but these companies are both going to be selling their products, and...
I am so looking forward to this game. I played the first one on PC back in the day, and it ranks up there as one of my favorte games of all time.
I think there are a lot of people out there still with a PS2, who are not interested in the 360, but yet have still been on the fence regarding the PS3 because of price. I think a lot of those people are going to take the plunge now, and get a PS3 because of the new price. Those people are not going to be swayed by another price drop from Microsoft, and Sony knows it.
Gotta love Tecmo. We need another extreme vollyball game, haha.
This is interesting, but gets in the area of hair splitting imo. Describing a sandbox game as non-linear usually only describes how you can move about & play diversions & side stories in a random order.
Narratives are another aspect (really the primary aspect) of a sanbox game, and that part of the game has to be linear to make sense. A disjointed nonlinear story is hard to follow, and when a player loses interest in the story, they often lose interest in playing the g...
