I love my 8bitdo SNES controller!
It needs to be backwards compatible in the same way the 3DS was to the DS. Switch cartridges need to work on the new console/ handheld (I hope it remains a hybrid, they hit gold when they designed it), preferably with a bit of a boost function ala Xbox/PS5. Even if the joy cons don't physically attach to the new Nintendo system, they should be able to connect so old games like Super Mario Party don't become obsolete.

Thanks NLN. That's what I seemed to think was the case, but for a series that retcons its own story multiple times throughout the decades it's hard to be 100% after a few years off.
They looked the same, acted the same, and we're both voiced by David Hayter. During the classic period of MGS, there was no difference (someone correct me but I don't recall if in Snake Eater NS was already determined to create his private militia?)
Side note - still a fantastic series of games with a plot so bonkers but still somehow works.
God it's hard to forget just how much vanilla W3's menu sucked. It felt clearly designed for PC, and didn't work well with a controller. The same did and still goes for Cyberpunk. Doesn't stop them both being awesome, mind.
Do you think gameplay wise it will be similar? I'm not sure it will be. Happy either way as I thoroughly enjoyed DS1, I thought it was extremely intriguing as Kojima often is with his stories; the gameplay was also equal parts extremely chilled and bloody stressful. Being a post apocalyptic postman was great

I'm still balls deep in the Nier series at this point, so it's exciting to get these new IPs announced whilst still having a plethora of games to get through in the meantime. Not that you get much time when a 5 year old wants to play dolls but eh, it's a good life for gamers right now!

To be fair we're fucking idiots for leaving the EU. We aren't the British Empire anymore, we offer nothing to the rest of the world now we sold up everything we used to own - railways, factories, steel works etc.
I hope you love it, dude. Nothing beats a shiny new console, and the PS5 is 👌 May I recommend Returnal, challenging but not Soulsborne-level challenging, and extremely good making use of those new haptics you're going to be playing around with.
