I have my Master degree and I make about 93k USD per year. (no BS!)
And I still won't pay 11k for a new TV and my girlfriend will still have her reasons to not welcome another HDTV in my house. (That would be the 4th)
I think I make more money than the average N4G user, but I also think I am older than the average N4G user.

4k is about 7 years away I think. Of course I am talking about 4k being mainstream.
After 720p, 1080p and 3D TVs in just a couple of years I doubt many people are welcoming a new TV with open arms. Heck, I will have a hard time to convince my girlfriend that we absolutely need to get rid of the 1080p TV and buy a brand new one with the launch of the Xbox 3.

BigBig, Zipper, Liverpool and this one seems to be next. There is NO way this studio is profitable at all and Sony can't afford non-profitable studios any longer.
Of course it is bad management by Sony. 2 games in 15 years is just not enough.
Of course Kinect will play a major role for MS next generation. I own Kinect and play it on a regular basis and it is fun. Sure there is some lag (not as bad as people try to make it look) and the games are more casual, but I don't see this as a problem.
And no, MS did not let core gamers suffer, because of Kinect. Halo 4, Forza Horizon, The Witcher 2, Trials HD, FEZ, Dust: AET, Alan Wake, Minecraft all came out this year and are not available on any other console. Dance...
Anyone checked the prices of a 4k TV lately? The Toshiba is available for 7,500 Euro / 9,420 USD.
I know, prices will go down, but even next year you will have a 5000 Euro price tag... For the first generation of these TVs.
Of course the console would be at least $600 and Sony is so broke, that might be a real challenge for them. They did close Studio Liverpool, BigBig and Zipper for a reason.
ehm, where are the MS problems you talk about? MS makes more money than ever. If you come up with the last Q, that was a one time write off of an acquisition made in 2007 I guess. The overall busines is highly profitable.

3 hours after I wrote my post, Sony closed their studio in Liverpool. Opened in 1984 (!!!), bought by Sony in 2001, closed by Sony in 2012. Lots of people will lose their job again.

Piracy is the cancer of this industry. Actually, it is the cancer of quite a few industries like music, movie, games or software in general.

Somehow some people think they have a right to get their games the way they want it. If the game comes with DRM you have two options: Accept it and buy it or don't accpet it and don't buy it. Piracy is not an option for every self respecting person.

What do you mean Kinect games don't do MGS numers when it comes to sales? MGS is at 5.4 million and it released 2008. Kinect Sports is at 4.5 million and it released 2010. Dance Central is at 2.8 million. So there are 7.3 million who do care. N4G users are the ones who don't care, because they live in denial.

Kinect will outsell the lifetime sales of the Gamecube later this year and it really extended the life of the Xbox 360.
So that is more than a gimmick.
