I remember people telling me that this was such a cool product. The reality is that this will flop, because it literally kills the social aspect of gaming or entertainment in general.
Halo Wars is a really really good game. Too bad reviewers are so biased against certain genres.
If you review a RTS on consoles, you know what you are up to. Halo Wars did everything right, yet it was downgraded, because it is a RTS on consoles.
You basically can't create a JRPG on consoles this gen and get 90+ reviews. You just can't.
@Joeorc
The Playstation lost 45 million in the past 3 months. And this does not include the 380 million for Gaikai. So expect another 300 million USD loss for the next 3 months.
Overall, the PS3 was in the red with more than 3 billion USD in 2008 already (excluding R&D!). So a more realistic picture would have been a close to 5 billion USD loss for one product. (In 2008 - you have to be a fool to think it recovered a noticable part of that. They had a few...
Funny that Sony is the one struggling and get out of some markets to focus on their core-business. MS is the one expanding its business and is a very profitable company right now.
Sony failed in the past decade and you can't deny that. They missed the trend with HDTVs and were late to the party. They failed at the smartphone market big time. They failed with their cameras as well. PS3 lost so much money, it is just out of control.
I am not saying MS did ...
@srcBFMVBMTH
Wait, so it is okay to milk a franchise as long as the franchise is from this gen, but it is just wrong if the franchise is a couple of years older? Awesome logic.
So if there will be Uncharted 4 on PS4, this is a bad thing...
You really like to spin things, don't you?
Well to be fair:
Motorstorm [PS3]
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift [PS3]
Motorstorm: Apocalypse [PS3]
Motorstorm: 3D Rift [PS3]
Motorstorm: Complete [PS3]
Motorstorm: Arctic Edge [PSP]
Motorstorm: RC [Vita]
Uncharted [PS3]
Uncharted 2 [PS3]
Uncharted 3 [PS3]
Uncharted GA [PSV]
Resistance [PS3]
Resistance 2 [PS3]
Resistance 3 [PS3]
Resistance Burning Skies ...
Uhm yeah, Uncharted has a 2 year development cycle just like Forza. Forza is an older franchise though.
Yeah ND makes TLOU now, but why should Turn10 create a new IP? I mean, what would even be the point?
They are making a racing sim and their criteria is reality. They try to get as close as possible.
Sure for ND, they create a new universe with a new IP (story, characters, environment etc.) Everything is different for them compared to Uncha...
Forza Horizon is not a Turn10 title form the ground up. Playground games is developing it, which is a team with staff from codemasters (DiRT) and Bizarre Creations (PGR). Turn10 is helping them out here and there but that's it.
There is a new Forza of the mainseries released every 2 years, which is just as frequently as Uncharted for example.
I think some developers should just keep on working on their franchises as long as the quality is a given. (Unch...
@Clarence
"Your such a fanboy. How is the PS3 seeing its weakest lineup this year?
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Dust 514
and a few multiplats until the January. Then it The Last Of Us, No Ni Kuni"
The year ends in December and Janurary is a new year. So these are 2 games you are talking about. Worldclass lineup.
MS exclusives 2012:
Trials
Mark of the Ninja
Fable: Journey
Fez
Minecraft
Witcher 2
Halo 4
Forza Horizon
Dance Central 3
Nike+ Kinect
Alan Wake: American Nightmare
Kinect Star Wars
Steel Battalion
Kinect Rush
Dust: An Elysian Tale
Hybrid
Haunt
Deadlight
Wreckateer
Joy Ride Turbo
Diabolical Pitch
Fable Heroes <...
@Blackdeath
you noticed that Dust is the only 2012 title? A classic selfown.
Especially with MS giving Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Witcher 2, Minecraft, Dance Central 3, Trials, Mark of the Ninja, Fable Journey all in 2012.
*edit*
It is a bullshit PR statement. A console that is not even sold yet and he knows who is buying it. Awesome.
They have a bad lineup for 2012. That should concern them.
PSABR, Sly and LBP Karting won't succeed against Wii U or Halo 4, Fable Journey, Forza Horizon and Dance Central 3.
The lineup for the PS3 in 2013 with PS4 being released is not that relevant either.
@CernaML
"Kinect Sports and Dance Central are the only two Kinect IPs that sold worth a damn... only for their sequels to take a hard nose dive. Everything else couldn't even do a million"
Why are you making things up?!
PS Move has no million seller other than the bundled Sports Champion.
Kinect Million sellers (of course excluding the bundles Kinect Adventures and games "better with Kinect):
"MS turned their backs on the hardcore since the launch of Kinect."
bla?
"New Kinect-IPs that flopped"
Kinect Sports 1 and 2 outsold Starhawk, Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Haze, Heavy Rain, ModNation Racers COMBINED.
So how would you call these games then?
Sony is in the worst situation of all three actually. Look at the major flop the Vita is. Look at the flop that is PS Move. Sony might have...
1st I could barely see a difference on screenshots.
2nd I will never see a difference while playing.
3rd Is Borderlands the PERFECT example that graphics do not matter for certain titles.
I actually liked the fat PS3 the most. It just looked powerful. Too bad the first games did not show what it was capable of. It even had the most features (PS2, Linux).
I don't get the point of removing features though. How can a 6 years old console be more advanced than a console from next week?
I don't even have an iPhone. -.-
Samsung Galaxy S2 with 32 GB, which comes with micro USB.
And thanks to the cloud I can store more than 3 TB actually. But that is just for my company cell phone though (HTC).
WoW for Someone who suffered storage issues this gen and offers a whopping 8 GB / 32 GB of storage next gen, that is quite an ironic statement, isn't it?
I mean my phone in 2011 had more storage than the WiiU in 2012.
So there goes any chance that MS might get out of the videogame business.
I think MS as a company is doing fine with their portfolio right now. They have a lot of very profitable products like Windows, Office, SQL-Server, .NET framework, MSSQL, Xbox 360, Kinect, Sharepoint, Azure and Xbox Live.
There are products that could be in a better position like Windows Phone, but they have a good chance to increase in popularity in the near future.
...
I mean something like watching a movie´or Sports with friends. This device is not made for these things and that is the main reason it won't be a success. That is my prediction at least.
