It is really funny to see people getting nuts about the rumor that Xbox 3 might block used games. They totally ignore that this is something Sony has a patent on.

And the next point people are overreacting about is the advertisement on XBL being oh so bad, which is nonsense to begin with, because the ads aren't even noticed...
It is certainly not bad, but look at the market. The market conditions are pretty bad - Every console is down YoY for 2 years now, because this gen seems to take forever.
When you look at total numbers of consoles sold, they are probably pretty close. And all are not doing well. So "domination" is something else IMO.
But hey, it is PR-talk. These people are hired to make you believe that everything is just fine and you are the nr. 1 leader no matte...
All this mimimi aside - MS reported higher than ever number of active XBL users and gold subscriptions sold.
Having better multimedia functions does not mean you won't have AAA games to develop. Especially with all the talent MS hired in the past 2 years.

I really like the idea of the installs.
You can put the disc in and play instantly. While you are playing your first 10 minutes of the game, the install happens in the background so you don't even notice.
So it is installed (wit all the benefits) and it plays instantly. Nice idea.

Again some facts I will get disagrees for:
- Sony lost money. The profit is an operating one. The net income is negative. 124 million USD loss.
- The Playstation division made a profit, but a VERY tiny one of 6 million USD. Compared to MS 600 million for the Xbox division or Nintendo 450 million USD.

I did not believe it for Sony and I don't believe it for MS either.
There are 40 million+ XBL users right now. As impressive as it sounds, there are another 30 million users who did not even connect their consoles to the internet. SO, I doubt MS would gladly lose 30 million+ customers.

The EDD has Windows Phone 8 and Skype besides Xbox 360.
These products might have a huge potential, but are not the biggest moneymakers just yet. WinPhone could actually post a loss. So yeah, the 596 is for the whole EDD, but very mainly driven by the Xbox.

I want every PC fan to build a PC when the Xbox 3 launches for the exact same price as the Xbox 3 and we will do a comparison about 2 years later, which machine can handle the latest games.
I never even noticed the current ads, so I see nothing wrong with it. It is not like MS filed a patent that interrupts your game to show you an ad.

He is disappointed that MS actually checks the Xbox and does a market research to see the potential for it (he calls it cage-fight)? It is a freaking 5 billion USD investment!
