Yeah compared to all the positive publicity "Killing" (Killzone) "Warfare" (Modern Warfare), "crisis" (Crysis), "Battlefield" (Battlefield), "Assassin" (Assassin's Creed), "war" (God of War / Gears of War) gets... oh wait.
I just wanted to post the yery same comment. This is so stupid.
You do realise that this chart shows that they are making a profit since 2008?
Look at the total figures. The division made 364 million USD profit in 2012, 1257 million in 2011 and 517 million in 2010.
you can find it in the financial reports.
Overall the Xbox 360 is highly profitable, especially when you consider Zune, WinPhone 7 or Kin.
And this is a duplicate article.
Well going by your comment history, you will support the author anyway, but here is the main point.
He is lying.
His quote:
"The entertainment division will be spun off, sold to someone like Sony or even Barnes & Noble, or dramatically reduced in size. Unable to make a profit it will increasingly be seen as a distraction to the battle for saving Windows - and Microsoft leadership has long shown they have no idea how to profitably gr...
This was not even a Forbes article. It was a random blogpost on forbes. That is basically as credible as a comment on N4G.
@Ezz2013
That is cherry picking at its finest.
The fact is that Sony needs to sell their assets to get cash. Even if this is just one part of your whole headquarter, this is not that good.
And the fact that the builing is 2 years old, is actually not a good sign for Sony. -.-
Well, let me ask this question: Do you think Sony would sell these assets (close to 3 billion USDs) if they were able to get an affordable loan? If Sony was hea...
They sold that already.

The European headquarter in Berlin was sold in 2008.

why is this trolling? These are just facts!
Sony to sell its Tokyo building:

Sony to cut 10k jobs:

Sony closed three game studios in 2012 (Zipper, BigBig, Liverpool): ...
What do you expect a CEO to say? "Yeah, we are screwed!" Not gonna happen.
Sony had to sell their Tokyo building to fund the restructure of the company, they had to fire 10k people, they closed 3 gaming studios and they received a junk-rating. I doubt that was part of the big masterplan.
The irony is, that I think (and the market as well) Sony needs even more drastic actions.
The next gen started 3 months ago with the Wii U.
Well it all comes down to the definition of winning.
Sony lost 3-4 billion USD with the PS3.
MS made 1-2 billion USD with the Xbox 360.
Nintendo made even more money with the Wii.
MS could have bundled 40 million Xbox 360s with every happy meal, if they only went for market share like Sony did.
Same for the Wii. Even more so.
So all these "OMG SONY MADE A GREAT COMEBACK!" is just meh when you see...
2013 is all about new consoles anyway. I don't see any blockbusters for late Q3 or Q4. And after 8 years (!!!) with my 360, it is about time.
5 million on Xbox 360 is just insane. Who said "XBLA games do not count!"?
Turn10's worst rated game was 90 on metacritic. They never developed a game lower than that. I don't know what they can possibly do to enter that list.
This is another "genre-thing" I guess. You can be the best in your genre, but won't get the rewards for it.
And how many of them run on Linux?
PC gamers will play on the PC. They won't switch to consoles, because the retailer they buy their games from builds one.
My prediction is that the Steambox will fail to get its fair part of the market. It might sell its 3 - 5 million / year, but that is it.
Steam is a retailer. Nothing more.
If the Steambox runs steam, EA probably won't support it, because they try to do their own thing.
You can't succeed with a console that does not offer Fifa, Madden or Battlefield.
That is a major disadvantage.
And why should devs go for Linux now? It has a 1.2% market share in the OS market and there are 28 games on steam that run on Linux. That is not much.
And Valve has b...
625k according to NPD
210k for PS Vita.
Because Sony had to delay their games to 2013 and had a messed up 2012.
When was the last big blockbuster game Sony released? And if someone mentions LBP Karting or PSABR, he should go right into his basement and start crying.
Uncharted 3 was the last game. It released 01.11.2011. Since then, there was no big exclusive blockbuster game for the PS3.
And what do N4G users say: "OMG 2013 will be awesome!!! Sony is Th3 B3ST!"
If I buy this for let's say $300, will I get 4 of santa's little helpers for the rest of my (or their) live?
OT:
4k is a resolution everybody does.
MS concept uses Kinect, which is MS only.
Sony failed to monetize PSN. That is the true story behind it.
And where is the big advantage PSN has these days? Getting old games for a yearly fee of $50 I could buy from ebay for $5... Awesome... really awesome.
Wasn't PSN down last weekend? Unexpectedly?
People praise Sony for buying Gaikai for 380 million USD, while the much bigger and advanced Service onlive was sold for 8 million. And it has way more patents of course.
