Who do you think gave the studio Direction to make a kinect based game fables journey or this market cash grab f2p fable legends? Simple answer is Microsoft.

Well his answer or word choices appear to have been carefully picked. To make it somewhat ambiguous as to his true desire regarding pc gamers buying an Xbox.

Btw I love this quote from phil from the article -
"10 feet away, with a [ ] in my hand, you and I sitting next to each other, either playing against each other or playing with each other —"

Well then it's quite they mystery why they just didn't put it out with relatively low operational costs aside from server support which msft has.

The game was pretty much done. Surely putting it out As digital only would have helped recoup some costs.

Looks like all games sold most on ps4

That community manager's post is so sad. He had absolutely no clue Microsoft announced the studios closure while he was fiercely defending microsoft and why delaying the game is needed for the greater good sometimes.

Hellova way to get blindsided by your employer.

Lol comment is gold.. Same time last year I heard the argument that Microsoft has a lot of first party studios from the same ppl when criticized for the lack of first party studios. Now those studios are disposable unknowns? This is pure comedy

BISHOP, marketing deal doesn't translate to 30 day exclusivity on content. The fact Ubi decided to announce this the day before the game's release is puzzling in itself.

Those like myself have already pre-ordered, and games on its way to my doorstep tomorrow. This announcement does very little to even make a dent in sales to one console vs another.

Didn't Phil spencer recently state he didn't believe in 30 day exclusivity content deals?

Makes you kinda think about msft's long term strategy.
The main reason any first party manufacturer runs studios is to beef up its library to set its console apart from others. I think we've seen from playstation that while they've had their share of closures they've been also willing to run studios with razor thin margins and take greater risks with niche titles as long as it contributed to the ecosystem.

Just what is msft thinking to make them make ...

The way MS went about on the phantom dust "cancellation" was shady at best. Darkside found out the project was shelved rather publically along with everyone else.

I know ms technically extended the name and says it's not cancelled but back in October Greenberg reconfirmed that there is no new dev attached to this project (I.e. Shelved or cancelled - take ur pick).

I doubt they will announce it soon. If they reveal the game will be on VR, it could potentially soften launch sales of the game when it comes out in June.
We already know VR is slated for late this year.

Zeref I think you got it backwards. Ppl already own PCs. Putting games on Microsoft store is going to drive video card sales of anything.

Besides stating OEM licensing is like pointing out sony's blueray licensing money they make off every Microsoft or Nintendo game sold.

The bulk of the money as a platform holder comes from profit sharing via the distribution platforms on the Pc like steam or Microsoft store.
However micorosoft has an uphill batt...

I think comparing Proprietary Nintendo hardware for mobile vs console plaltform is slightly different then comparing PC vs console.

It's all about windows 10 and the microsoft store at microsoft.

3617d ago 16 agree1 disagreeView comment

Seems like it's counter intuitive - I agree no point in cross buy across pc and Xbox. Now if they do cross buy across mobile and Xbox makes more sense.

Jim

My point is really more geared towards consumers that haven't picked up an Xbox one yet- basically future users.
I also understand folks like yourself may have specific preferences but I'm talking in general.

What this move does is essientially devalue the Xbox one and increase the value of the windows store, which is microsofts ultimate corporate goal atm.

Less unique content on Xbox one equals less reason to buy the hardware. It's really why Xbox diehards like Crapgamer got into it with phil spencer.

So let's think this through logically like an economist -
1) Less unique content equals less perceptible value to hardware
2) less perceptib...

I would have a lot more respect for him if didn't treat us like idiots. What shame is there in admitting what the entire industry knows.
