I played the demo last week at the Playstation Hub in Dublin. Its still quite rough looking in comparison to Killzone 2 as its still early code..I wasn't too impressed but I'm sure Guerrilla will blow me away again with the final product. The controls are very responsive but the weighty feeling is definitely still there..can't wait to see the other locales.
I have to say Gamesradar really write great reviews, this and the Castlevania review are both informative, fair and very well written. Scoring aside I urge everyone to read the Gameradar review of Castlevania and compare the depth and effort gone into it along side IGN's shallow attempt.
@Ultimate Revenge
Just because our opinions differ to yours that doesn't automatically mean we are fanboy's involved in some bubble gaining circle jerk ploy. You assume way too much.
The writer is trying his best to knock this game for everything that Uncharted 2 was, and then tries to cover his tracks by saying that a few riot shields, propane tanks and multi player made all the difference?! I doubt he's even played anything other than the demo.
@Ju
I agree with you that technologically Enslaved is a little disappointing, but I think closing the gap between games and movies is far from solely dependent on HD textures, absence of screen tearing or stable FPS.
Alex Garland and Andy Serkis don't work for free, Ninja Theory have sought after and invested in two talented professionals who have a genuine passion for advancing the media and blurring the lines between cinema and gaming. If you think tha...
@Da Truth
Haha..fair point, but personally I thought it more important to get the truth out rather than worry about how many hits Spong might score off this one. There's kids on here saying they won't buy Enslaved now because of these out of context quotations!? N4G..often moronic but rarely dull.
I'd recommend any doubters of Ninja Theory's mo-cap pedigree to search for a few of the movie sequences from Heavenly Sword, namely ones involving Kai and Nariko. They have absolutely nailed the conveyance of emotion through virtual actors. My brief time with the Enslaved demo was equally impressive, while Uncharted is streets ahead in many departments, particularly visuals, I feel Ninja Theory are the best in their field for movie sequences and convincing acting.
Read the article, he's simply discussing the animation methods used and how he feels its not as natural a method as the capture techniques they use. Just more tabloid game journalism, Ninja Theory have had nothing but high praise for Naughty Dog's work. Leave the schoolyard bickering to the publishers, developers have far too much respect to be getting in pissing contests with each other.
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.
Not only was this article written poorly, it was entirely fabricated. Everything that was stated is just supposition based on what we've seen from the trailer. Actually you could swap the word "Guardian" for "Majin" and that summary would have read like a preview for Game Republics upcoming offering..ah well the kid got his hits.
Yeah the new Dante looks really gay..unlike the original one?!!
He still looks camp as hell but maybe he'll actually be funny this time around rather than just plain cheese. Fair play to Capcom, I think the world has had their fill of feathered white haired metrosexual protagonists. Better soundtrack and improved one liners guaranteed.
"OMG its so weird"..I'd hate to see your movie collections guys..Michael Bay and Gerry Bruckheimer FTW huh??
Its no wonder the video game industry just keeps on churning out generic muck..anything else frightens you. Great to see Sony has the confidence to do creative off the wall advertising again, Kevin Butler is great but the UK and Ireland adverts are little more than boring infomercials, something which was necessary when the public had no idea what the PS...
Release date aside this game still has little chance of doing big numbers. Its getting minimal coverage on the web and when it does readers are ignoring it, N4G is a prime example of this..it seems gamers here are more interested in engaging in their jaded pissing contest than they are in new ip's. Sequels and bragging rights are all that matters, I personally get far more excited by something new and unknown than just a spruced up improved version of more of the same. The majority of gam...
Sony music may be huge but this news, strange as it may seem, is hugely disappointing. I was hoping for a Spotify style app, not one tied to any major label. I like a lot of underground and independant label sounds and there is little chance this service or vidzone will ever provide the catalogue of music that I'd like..so I guess I'm still stuck to laboriously scrolling through a 100GB of music on the xmb when I have friends around for a piss-up. :-( Boo hoo the only chink in the PS3...
@big_silky
Yeah Jedward are clearly the best we have to offer because we all know success=talent. ;-) Jedward have never been a part of the music industry, they are the product of a TV show popularity contest, namely the X-Factor.
I could list off some very talented contemporary Irish artists for you but I notice you just mentioned "The Cranberries" and "quality" in the same sentence..so I won't waste either of our time. ;-P
@Apotheosize
I think Namco Bandai are doing fine with pushing new IP's, they're publishing two of the more unique games of 2010; Enslaved and Majin and the Forsaken kingdom which both look promising. Strange that they seem to have this sudden fascination with A.I controlled co-operative games of late though.
Thanks Sandra! I woke up this morning with a serious craving for a hearty dose of incomprehensible gibberish, you didn't disappoint! WTF?!
Pretty bad writer, not as bad as Hip Hop Gamer but still worse than Gay Gamer! ;-)
Folklore was the first game I bought for my PS3 and while it was far from perfect it still stands out as the most unique game in my collection, the beautiful visuals and amazing story were let down somewhat by the constant loading and linearity of the levels but overall its atmosphere won me over. I would go as far to say that Folklore had the best ending of any game I've played on the PS3.
November 25th can't come soon enough for me.
With a year between the release dates?! Hardly in competition outside your mind.
