I always find its best in the long run to convert to the best available console in each generation and don't end up with a lame duck through blind brand loyalty. First half of last gen was microsofts then I switched to PS3 to play the brilliant exclusives and I'm 100% certain I'm going for the PS4 when the good games start coming out.
The simple fact of the matter is slight graphic increase aside their are far better games out for the ps3 than for the ps4. I'm having a blast after picking up a second hand ps3 and hammering through the back catalogue. The last of us, uncharted, demons souls, ni no kuni, the list goes on.
I have absolutely no desire to upgrade just yet, until that killer title or three is available and moves gameplay on and not just increases the resolution to 1080p. Next gen hasn't ...
The virtual boy with its red vector graphics and it's headset which was bolted to a table. Why people are even bothering to compare Morpheus and rift to virtual boy beats me. It's like comparing a car phone from the early 1990s to the smartphones of today.
Oh yeah Nintendo. I'd forgotten about them.
3D gaming is actually good, I enjoy playing games in 3D. I can only imagine the 3D in a dedicated headset being much better and combined with the "being in the game" factor and head movement etc etc that it will be a great piece of kit.
Horseless carriages weren't all that fantastic back in the day but build a few roads and fast forward time 100 years and now you've got blokes who stick their dicks in the exhaust pipes of their sports cars to get off.
Why not? If they can develop on ps3 and Xbox 360 architecture simultaniously this will be a walk in the park for any game studio out there.
It's moving your head to make the camera move and a screen strapped to your face. I'm sure they can bring multiplatform games out for all the VR devices without too much bother tbh. I don't see what the problem is?
The article nearly hit the nail on the head but skirted round it because the article was about Sony failing and elaborating on the brief point they made would have resulted in a more balanced article which they obviously didn't want.
The point is that there has never been nothing wrong with sonys hardware, the article says the move controllers worked incredibly well. There's nothing wrong with 3D gaming either in my experience it's a step up from 2D when done cor...
They need to get this out in shopping centres and let the public try it before it releases. I've not had a go myself but I can definitely see why everyone's making a huge splash about how immersive it is.
If you get people trying it and talking about it and it releases with a couple of killer titles it will succeed. If it hits the shops and only hardcore gamers know it exists and there's limited software that will work alongside it then it might find it tough goi...
First person horror games and cockpit games are gonna be the new fps's once this thing drops
People are assuming the games for Morpheus will be the AAA games of today. In reality developers will discover ways of using the head tracking to create new experiences that will probably be pushing far less things on screen than say in your latest call of duty game.
Anyway I'm sure Sony have got this covered and who knows what they have come up with in R&D to overcome these technical limitations. If the graphics of the more intensive games are on par with ps3 but th...
Unfortunately to get the field of view to make it an awesome experience the thing has to be so big. I look at it this way yeah people will laugh at you the first time you try it, but give them a go with it and see if they are laughing then.
I guess yours won't be the cool house on the street anymore then once Morpheus arrives.
The extended ending was perfectly fine. It completely made sense to me anyway.
@blue_flowers I've never expierienced VR or as you put it having a screen strapped to my face but I have read and heard how wowed people were who had, and explained what the sensation was like whilst using one and it has me intriqued enough as to wanting to give it a go myself.
I may end up disappointed or I may think its the future of gaming. Either way I will reserve judgement until I've TRIED it.
P.S. Good luck waiting for the holodeck.
New IP. I'm imagining gta style gameplay set in a universe not disimilar to bladerunner, maybe a few space stations off planet segments, bounty hunts etc etc.
Why nobody hasn't done this yet is beyond me. It's itching to be made but everyone just follows rockstar so it's time for them to step up and do it.
Early sales figures mean nothing for either console. You need to look at the sales figures a year from now once all the fanboys have got their machine of choice and then see which machine the other 90% of the public decide to buy.
Worst unveiling of a new console ever. DRM is still stupid, it stops gamers picking up old titles as an impulse buy, it therefore halts creativity and it only works if you happen to have a hefty broadband connection.
And as for being in favour of it just so you don't have to change disks then that's just ridiculous and enforces the image that all gamers are all lazy people who don't go outside.
Games will get more realistic, especially shooting games. Right now have you seen how players run about multiplayer maps like they're in steroids. What you will get is a more realistic experience once they have ironed out all the kinks.
I'm surprised Sony or Microsoft haven't brought the android and App Store games to
their console and charged 99c or whatever they are?
