The author appears to use the terms 'free-to-play' and 'pay-to-win' synonymous. Looks like he doesn't really understand what he is taking about.
I really hate that expression.
Exactly.
I could never forgive them for ditching planet exploration after ME1. If they want me back as a customer they have to bring their A-game.
I mean, Star Citizen is going to have fully rendered and walk-able ship interiors - with ship sizes ranging from small single seat ships to kilometer long capital ships. It will feature a full fledged single player campaign + an open world sandbox universe with over a hundred star systems. Both flight and FPS gamep...
It has not been officially confirmed, but previously shown footage and the possibility to create a custom character strongly suggests there will be some kind of co-op play.
The only official word on the matter was that the mentioning of "online elements".
Here the respective news quote:
[...] at the end of their blog post, they teased, “Huh? Online elements? Of course [the game] will have some!”

As a huge Xenoblade fan, with X and the 3DS remake being both featured nicley, I can say the direct left me pretty satisfied.
Can I play my old disc based Wii games with Wii U gamepad/pro controller too now?
In X you can target individual body parts of monsters now and air combat in mechs will bring an other dimension to it.
It's massive!
The art is just breath taking.
Btw, when he jumps off that cliff, that's just so Xenoblade, lol.
We certainly have different opinions on what aspects we value most in respect to the franchise. That's perfectly fine.
I found that while UC1 had a masterfully arranged plot and game design from start to finish, UC3 felt like an incoherent mess in comparison.
There are certainly other aspects that improved over the course of the series, but they were not the most important or franchise defining to me.
This game has me quite interested recently. Probably going to check out the early access.
I definitely hope so.
The announcement I saw specified "3DS and Wii U spring releases" though. So the tweet could also just refer to the new 3DS verion of the original Xenoblade.
Then again Takahashi hinted in one of his recent tweets, there would be more info about X this month.
Anyway, we'll know soon enough.
(Edit: Might be also worth mentioning that from last I heard Xenoblade X was scheduled for spring 2015...
I don't know. After Uncharted 3 I keep my anticipation at a reasonable level.
UC1 was freakin awesome
UC2 was very good
UC3 was just meh
Soraya Saga has re-tweeted about the direct. So Xenoblade related news is practically guaranteed.
Only question is if it's only about the new 3DS version of the Wii game or also about X.
It's one of my most favourite games of the recent years, that's for sure.
Heard rumors there might be new info on Xenoblade X. Hope it's true.
Edit: Wait, didn't Takahashi himself say in one of his latest tweets we're going to get new info this month?
‘Hardcore’ vs ‘Casual’ is an interesting subject overall, but any debates fall prone to the fact, that 'hardcore' and 'casual' are highly subjective terms.
The author’s reduction of the term ‘hardcore gaming’ to mere ‘competitive play’, is IMO extremely short sighted and I strongly disagree with it.
IMO, as good as TLOU is, it borrowed too much from the Uncharted formula in terms of gameplay.
Combat phases and exploration/puzzle phases were too sharply cut. You could be sure to never be attacked while exploring an area unless combat was introduced by a plot event.
More exploration/survival focused gameplay would have been desirable - at least for me.

Are you kidding me?!
The work the British cast did with the original Xenoblade was beautiful!
Adam Howden, Carina Reeves, Jay Taylor, Rufus Jones, Timothy Watson, Anthony May, Jonathan Keeble and more were all brilliant!
I'd be glad they bring British actors back!
I absolutely agree. This is a very important point in fact.
Part of the responsibility lies by the consumer behavior and expectations.
In particular the demand for ever improving graphics has left a lot of game shaping features on the road. (I.e. content is cut or game worlds are design linearly)
Also the 'genre mush' or however you want to call it - designing a game in a fashion that it caters to the broadest audience possible is a c...
