10000% agree. Jumping back into a huge sprawling epic can be frustrating at times and you often have to re-learn old tricks.
But this isn't how Microsoft operates. They're a service company first, and everything else comes second. The way they've planned things is to have all first-party games have some sort of online hook to ensure A) more money over time, B) more engagement and collecting tons of data/feedback from gamers, and C) experiment with new tech/methods to see what works and what doesn't.
Halo, like all future first-party Microsoft games, should have microtransactions/m...
It's like a big scavenger hunt, but every clue is hidden in another dimension. I like these sorts great mysteries. They're super fun for the community.
It's going to have microtransactions. Taking even a cursory look around Microsoft's current engagement/live service strategies is really enough, not to mention how much REQ Packs have earned.
No purchasable loot boxes is great, though you should always expect a hook somewhere. Gotta keep gamers playing and paying.
This is REALLY cool, and I hope it carries in other live games. I love the idea of someone's achievements affecting everyone in a positive way.
I used it in...I think April? Microsoft's updates soft-bricked my console again (this is the fourth time!). I dislike the blocks and tiles setup and for some reason my pins were wiped out. It just feels super weird to me how everything is set up. Guess I'm used to PS4?
As an XO and PS4 owner its not just games for me. I very much dislike the Xbox One UI and how it's weird and slowish. PS4 is set up logically and doesn't make me jump through hoops to get to the things I want or need to access.
While Microsoft is doing great things with Xbox One now, it's just not really for me. I don't think it ever was. And I'm saying this as a hardcore Xbox 360 fan.
No.
Three words: sign. Me. Up.
Look at what Ubisoft is doing by merging live services with singleplayer games. AC Origins did this to an extent, but Far Cry 5 is one of the biggest examples so far.
Lol valve would never sell to Microsoft.
Singleplayer? Surely they don't mean offline SP. Anthem is geared to be a significant online-based service game.
Super Mario Odyssey is a blockbuster IP and series of games, and it's made by Nintendo, who typically doesn't follow key disruption trends like lootboxes and such.
This is an insane line of thought that will significantly harm the video games industry. Microtransactions and lootboxes have done tremendous good for gaming as a whole, and are responsible for billions in earnings that push the industry's ceiling higher while increasing budgets for new games and new IP.
Yes, publishers often misuse microtransactions and lootboxes. But they shouldn't be boycotted or stopped completely, but more competently utilized. Lootboxes and mo...
Luckily the Xbox One X isn't a device aimed at mainstream consumers.
I thought this was a parody post.
Yeah no. Uncharted 4 took an insane amount of time to make, and an insane amount of crunch. 2020+
A friend who tried this told me it was laughably bad. At least 343i admitted it's not even a game!
Microsoft has already said they dont expect the Xbox One X to sell spectacularly. Unlike Sony, Microsoft doesn't have to rely on console sales as a valid metric for its games segment.
Because they're funding the studios and keeping them alive versus having them constantly scramble for contracts and living on the cusp of financial ruin.
