Pachter actually might be on to something. The 500gb machines might get a cut to clear inventory. After that they will disappear and the $400 1tb versions will be the norm. We'll get bigger hard drives and game bundles instead of price cuts.

Blame Sony fanboys. If they would have let go of the delusion that Xbox doesn't make money the 360 would cost $179 by now for a Pro. But because of their bubble most see it as completely acceptable that a ten year old console has...

Lost I believe you're right. If this isn't an intentional marketing leak, the watermark was removed knowing someone would immediately leak it for them. Which is still just a marketing tool. Marketing now is intended to not seem like marketing. Let things go viral on their own. And so far the general public still doesn't get it. It's like when they put actors on the street and have them hold a conversation about something just to peak others curiosity. It's actually very sm...

Well said Pope. It's funny that this is somehow desperate when there were several PS4 bundles and deals announced in the last couple of weeks in the word never came up. But as you said the majority on this site have no idea how business works. That is obvious from the huge number that believes Xbox doesn't make money. Though I will admit that many adults who have bought into the idea that analyst are their friends have been fooled into the same ideas. Analyst are about manipulating th...

It's called manufactured hate and the sheeping of society. Not a lot of individual thinking going on anymore.

I don't believe all of the "leaks" are really leaks. I think sometimes they are just trying to get you looking forward to a particular game or item. Like the 1tb Xbox. Microsoft has said they were having trouble fitting everything into E3. And that is with them saying most of Gamescom will be unique information. So Amazon "leaks" the new console to get you wanting more info. If it's just a new hard drive, you say two words about it and move on. But if interest buil...

The problem is cost. You're absolutely right. But it would have been cost prohibitive. Now that they are probably using a 20nm APU and other cost have come down it makes sense. This is the same as last generation. Unlike last generation this is far less of a problem since any external hard drive works for it and they are very cheap or you might already have one. Plus external means it's easy to take your game collection somewhere else.

I agree with what you're saying. I don't believe the US will ever get the games taken away from Russia. Putin has already called America out as being behind this. He has also never had a problem calling out America on our hypocrisy. The main problem with getting the games away from Russia will be a lack of support from the world community.

Most of the world now see America as only being about it's own interests. Whether it's unilaterally bombing the hell out o...

There is a good chance both will come to Xbox. DayZ would be an easy port and H1Z1 is one of the games sold with Sony online that are being switched to multiplats. All of the former Sony online games should be coming to Xbox.

Then how come Microsoft keeps saying it is and why did they start a studio to develop games for Hololens. There's something fishy going on here.

Sorry, not a specific studio. But a new executive to oversee development of games for Hololens from all of Microsoft's studios.

Another thing many people are forgetting or don't realize is the difference between this generation and past generations. Consoles didn't start out selling for huge losses this time. They were sold at cost or for a small profit on day one. APUs changed the business model. The normal tens of millions in initial losses didn't occur this this around. So there is much more room to be creative with how they make money.

I'm sure people realize that Valve makes money...

Rainslacker you're completely wrong on this. You're on this site daily but it seems you have ignored far too many articles about Windows 10. And you haven't watched videos or listened to the presentations at BUILD or GDC. Or financial conference call articles.

Microsoft has stated several times that Windows 10 would be code once across all platforms. They have said with mostly UI adjustments. If you listen to Phil Spencer's GDC keynote he mentions toward the ...

It's 2015 and there's people out there still naive enough to believe Xbox doesn't make money. Even on the console. If you read breakdowns of the cost of Xbox One it was profitable day one. And 360 was within three years. People actually believe PS3 makes a profit on each console sold after starting off at $840 to build but Xbox 360 still loses money after starting at $526 and a year earlier. And added an SoC that combines the two most expensive parts into one part costing half the...

Microsoft has been pretty straight forward on what they are doing. Expect to see Xbox franchises going over to PC and PC titles going over to Xbox. They have been very clear about this. During GDC one of the presenters said, with universal apps, and games are apps, stop thinking of Windows as the OS, think of it as the platform. No longer target devices, target the platform. With minor adjustments, universal apps code will work on any Windows 10 device.

They also said they wo...

Xbox also benefits multiple divisions in the company. People need to listen to Microsoft at conferences and not just the highlights from events. As much as people hate Kinect, I admit it hadn't given gaming much yet, but it has given Microsoft Cortana and Hololens. The work done on Xbox SoCs I'm sure has been a tremendous help in designing the custom chips for Hololens and Kinect. And as we move towards a subscription based system of consumerism having a platform that offers everythin...

Eighty is way overblown. The Washington D.C. Baltimore region and northern Virginia have over 10-13 million people. The average internet speed here is 30mbs easy. I would bet most of the major cities are similar. I would bet a third of this country has around that speed or higher. The problem is low population states like North and South Dakota and Montana bring the average down. And we have too many states like that. But more than half of us live in the major cities.

Animals is obviously not a fan of dead musical artists. And we've had flying cars for years now. Just because no one sells them doesn't mean they don't exist. Also in the U.S. I think they passed a bill in Congress last year to get the ball rolling on that and the sky GPS highways were designated years ago. Someone just has to prove their vehicle is safe.
