CFC you're forgetting Fallout will be supporting mods on console this time around so it might have longer than usual legs.

@Eonjay

You think a company called Respawn, because they had just started over after getting completely screwed by a previous publisher and now are going back to the original publisher they left, might have some reservations about how they deal with publishers in the future. I'm betting Respawn's relationship with EA is a little different than most developers. I would bet EA gets to publish the games and a smaller percentage of the profits in exchange for Respawn gett...

But this is exactly what they have been working on for years. Steve Ballmer started this and Windows 10 is the result. Code once across all platforms was a Ballmer thing that people are giving Nadella credit for. Just shows what a scam the market is actually. Nothing really changed in Microsoft policy but the stock price nearly doubled because they think one guy makes them feel good.

There are a ton of these articles but that is what happens when something completely new comes along. Odd I don't remember any complaining when the articles were all critical of cloud computing. But like the Pope said if this had something to do with Sony or Naughty Dog the articles would line the top of the page despite them be based on a secretary tweeting good morning.

They'll get over it. Maybe. It just hurts sometimes when find out that you have been Lingering i...

Microsoft needs to do some interviews where Phil just breaks down some of this information. It's out there but people are still missing it.

Using this technology doesn't cost the developers anything during the making of the game. Microsoft offers cloud computing free of charge so that they can focus on other things. I have heard that Microsoft charges a fee to use the service for playing the game. I personally haven't seen that said by anyone from Microsoft though...

PSNow can never be a killer app. Let me explain.

Sony(and their fanboys) has mentally conditioned their fan base to have specific feelings about certain things. PC gaming through a paid service is several things PlayStation people have been conditioned to hate. One is that it's a paid service. Gaikai and OnLive were both failing companies. There is no market for this purpose. Especially with Sony fans. Two is this type of service is the very definition of always on. We k...

I agree that I'm not interested in a game that only works if it is online. But I have no problem with a game, and would prefer it, that is built to utilize the cloud. There are directions this can take gaming that no one has thought of yet. Ways this will be useful in the single player game that could be turned off if there is no connection. The occasions where online is unavailable would be no more inconvenient than current cases. A small manipulative group just likes to pretend it's...

Hate there is no way anyone should be letting a relative handful of whiners stop anything from moving forward. Many people didn't have broadband when Live launched. Sometimes business has to take a"If you build it they will come" approach. This is one of those cases. Also given that the vast majority of the whining was from people who will never buy your product anyway because of biased idiocy you have to ignore them and push ahead. The Crackdown footage has made that clear. Now...

Griever you don't really know gaming genres. Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Crackdown have guns in them but I wouldn't categorize them as shooters. But on your main topic would you consider that your belief that Xbox One only has shooters and racers is based on that only being what you looked for. I'm pretty sure there are more than ten or so games on Xbox One. Plus naming a bunch of JRPGs is disingenuous when any true gamer knows Japanese studios aren't supporting Xbox One becaus...

@Aenea

The move engines move data through the various routes at an accelerated speed without much hit on normal GPU function. That doesn't sound like something useful to you if you're pulling data from the cloud and trying to minimize latency? Neither of us really knows, unless you work for Microsoft. But that you obviously don't because if you did you wouldn't be claiming this is completely Cloudgine technology. You really believe Microsoft designed a console...

Once again Sony fanboys are learning us something new. Microsoft makes Xbox One BC. "I've moved on, who cares about last generation". Sony offers streaming of old games. "This is a killer app".

Thanks again guys.

If someone is willing to spend $300 on a 360 they might as well get Xbox One. But I'm looking at it from a developer standpoint. It should be supported for years.

I don't know what API they are using but if they are going with PC it always makes better sense to use DX12 and Windows 10 Universal app and get the Xbox One version for free.

I actually think they should continue to support the Xbox 360, but stop selling it after 2016. There are a ton of dev kits out there and it would be great as a kind of starter development platform for new companies. They could make less complicated games that would run on Xbox One also. It would be like Xbox Ones answer to mobile games.

It's amazing how fast we've gone to Sony can do it too. I guess that's progress. Though now we're in a different denial bubble. The idea that just any company can do this. Some of this is Cloudgine, some of this is Microsoft and some of this is the design of the Xbox One.

Sony can license Cloudgine tech or partner with them, but they were not doing anything on this level before partnering with Microsoft. Microsoft went to Cloudgine so it's obvious they hav...

When has that ever not been good enough to disprove something Sony fans wanted it to.

I think the best way I've heard Microsoft's situation explained was on the Anandtech podcast. Someone explained Microsoft is way too early for the party. They were one of the companies that pushed tablets. Remember project origami? Then they left it to others. Finally they are pushing tablets ahead again with Surface after Apple exploded the market. He listed a few more things that didn't become a thing until years later. Now that they are doing hardware that should change. Ten bi...

The reality is they showed what they were doing in bits and pieces. All of teh cloud jokes are based on what they've said in the past. Always on was touted for the cloud and things like the family share feature. There is no doubt they could have been more eloquent in their explanation, but it was the fan boy hate that was allowed to rule the conversation. It was their fault for not silencing that or at least ignoring it and pushing forward with their vision of the future of gaming. This i...

I wouldn't trust his opinion on this game. Probably not at all. What he describes in the private demo is what we have all seen besides the television episodes. So for him to complain about re-hashed mechanics is a joke. To do that he would pretty much have to hate gaming at this point. The lack of new mechanics has been a knock on the industry for a couple of generations.

Then there are the gripes about the premise. Every game explains how things are what they are? That i...
