You know how sometimes a small developer says something and people dismiss them wrongly for not knowing what they are talking about? Well this is where people need to be making this statement. PC gamers are probably laughing at console gamers when reading the comments. Know why? Because this is the way consoles have worked for years, decades.
Except instead of two versions to optimize there are thousands of possible combinations. Remember those bad ass Titan and Fury cards ...
That's the thing most don't get. The appeal of Scorpio is the same as the appeal consoles have always had. Simplicity. Xbox Anywhere just adds to the value of Scorpio. People are constantly on the go. Combine Scorpio, the increasing power of tablets and notebooks and dynamic resolution and the average consumer is completely covered for gaming.
Start out on Scorpio and a TV. Switch to your notebook during your commute. Go back to your Scorpio when you get back home. ...
Is that really what will happen Septic? What I see happening is more developers will use dynamic resolution. That and tweaked AI and crowds. Nothing that hasn't been done before. This is no different from PC except that it is a closed spec to target.
The reality is we never get the great new gameplay we are promised with more power. We get the same games with better graphics. Dynamic resolution solves that. What's next? Scorpio owners will get a 4K graphical patch ...
This is a normal practice but this also might be because you get the remaster for free if you own this.
Check again, these are consoles with custom chips. AMD has a division that does this. It's a core part of their business.
When they say so developers can know I think they mean the average developer. Bethesda knew, Activision and EA knew. But most didn't. You run the risk of a leak if too many know. A big developer or consistent partner is more likely to keep quiet. It's obvious some knew because Microsoft says they consulted with them.
If that console launches this year all the maniacal laughter in the world will make it 5.5 teraflops. That would require a complete redesign. That's not how making computer parts works. You can throw in more ram but not a bigger GPU and have everything work well.
If Sony wants to wait until holiday 2017 they can make those changes. I do believe they might have room for more, Polaris allows for that. But it still means additional cooling and additional expense. Sony woul...
Sony should be thanking Microsoft for announcing Scorpio. It changed the fanboys from"no way I'm buying a new console three years later to where do I sign up"? Fanboy defense mechanism rules all. Spock would consider this fascinating.
Stupid articles could signal to everyone that you are clueless and they shouldn't take your financial advice.
Great comment Gumby. Imaginary bubble for you. You too Battleaxe.
Starchild that is true. But all indications are that the rx480 is very efficient. Overclocked they are estimating 980 levels and it's said the games are running much better than the spec. So yes, architectures matter a lot. AMD seems to have a winning architecture right now.
Aftershock I can't even take your response seriously. Obviously you're really young or oblivious. There are hundreds of companies that have had that attitude over the years. Sears, Kmart, IB...
Exactly. They should have said it's a tech demo from the start. Instead they've gone through a decade of development trying to flesh out a story because now that they are making a game they have to produce a quality one. If they can actually make a quality game out of something as uninspired as a tech demo. If it turns out bad blame the fanboys. They are so fickle they corner people into doing things they shouldn't.
There's plenty of information about a lot of things but I won't be wasting any time looking up feathers. The reality is absent some amazing new game mechanics this game should never have taken this long in development. The reality is it was a tech demo the fanboys went ahhhh about and now they have to figure out a story to go along with it. Every other Icco game had a look. Now suddenly feathers are the most important thing in the world. BS.
JMC 6 teraflops next year will be a low-end card. So the console will be no more to produce than Xbox One was, around $400. Once Neo is released and we get a bill on materials the new APU will be cheaper than the one in ps4.
And Teraflops aren't different based on architecture. Teraflops are a measurement that's constant. If anything AMD architectures are far cheaper or NVIDIA is price gouging. It won't matter anyway, AMD is providing to be far smarter than NVI...
If the graphics are average and it's not open world why did this game take so long to release. Unless there is some amazing new gameplay mechanics they could have launched this years ago on PS3.
Gamers can what? Since when? Comments say otherwise. Reality hasn't counted in gaming for over a decade. This is the era of the fanboys.
I have a feeling this will be NVIDIA fanboy damage control but I'll give it a chance. If it turns out to be fanboy damage control I then know to dismiss the site from now on.
People don't even try to hide their stupidity anymore. They make comments anyone in the world can see. And this analyst is why everyone should be smart enough not to invest in the market. People like him and the major crashes that occur every 8-10 years. But then you read the comments again and know there are too many lambs.
Scorpio really puts Sony in an interesting spot. Sony has to release Neo this year, hesitation will cause all of their worse Polaris fears to come true. But they have to adjust to Scorpio now. They will have to tweak Neo. It's just a matter of how they can tweak without causing a RRoD situation.
I believe they will bump Neo up to 4.5 teraflops or so but are stuck there. Microsoft has 7-8 more months to make changes before locking in for a November launch. Microsoft sho...
Ultimate you're not remembering things correctly. It was AMD that guided DX12 and Vulkan to asynchronous compute with Mantle. What AMD did was a very intelligent move to push the industry forward and to their way of thinking at the same time. If NVIDIA eventually comes up short, and I believe they will, it is their fault for being less innovative. This is the history of business once again repeating itself. A seeming underdog innovates and changes the the industry works. It is the natural...
