Shadow won't get redone. Playstation fans have made it clear. They don't want old games. Or are they just saying they prefer to be charged a second time?

The fanboys are going fast and furious. You gotta believe some of them are getting paid for the level of hatred some have and the speed at which they get the message out. And the message is price everyone. They want you to focus on that. Those same people cheered Kutaragi and his second job comments, but now $100 is an insurmountable issue.

Should Microsoft have swallowed a slight loss? Yes. They should have launched at $399. Will this kill Scorpio? Of course not. Scorpio w...

Microsoft has had an unusually tightly run ship this year. Last year there were so many leaks. This year with less than two hours to go we pretty much got nothin'. Good job. I guess. Waiting is hard on a pimp or anybody else.

Microsoft would lose a lot less than companies lost on previous generations. People have forgotten already that besides Nintendo the norm in console manufacture was to lose over $100 per unit at launch and make it up with install base and price adjustments later.

Scorpio will be in the $460-80 range to manufacture and will fly off the shelves at $399. Microsoft will struggle to keep pace at that price and developers are excited to see how far they can push it. Technologica...

This is proof Scorpio will be $399. Microsoft isn't concerned with selling the S anymore. They want to flood the market with Scorpio. It's the proper play. Take slight losses that they will make up for with software. And they won't be that bad. Solidify the Xbox brand. Bring in the low end PC gamers with 4K and mouse and keyboard support.

Scorpio will fly off the shelves at that price. Plus those who can't afford a Scorpio now will be encourage to buy S bec...

As long as they use dynamic resolution and have BC they're fine. The key is the ability to adjust to new architectures through software. The architectures could be Zen or ARM next generation. Sony has to have a software solution to save money. Though the next generation will be 7nm and at that point cost isn't that much of a factor at launch.

The business side is important of course. I've posted people should spend less time trashing certain companies and buying exclusives the CEO of their favorite company says cost them money seven out of ten times.

But more people holding onto their games isn't a bad thing. It may seem so because re-masters sell 2 or 3 million additional copies of a game. But they are often discounted. $39.99 instead of $59.99. They are usually made for the biggest hits. Games that sel...

The real reason people don't go back more is the visual quality. They go back more than Sony claims. But the big thing really is moving forward. My favorite gaming moments occurred on Original Xbox and 360. More Original than 360. The reason I want a re-master of Brute Force so badly is I had my all-time favorite gaming moment in that game.

Going forward Microsoft guarantees I don't have to wait for re-masters anymore. The game will look incredible today, but will s...

XMark they do but dev kits are running other programs underneath the game so they need to space to get it going on the level available on a home unit.

When Microsoft was making deals Sony fans talked. Now they aren't and Sony fans talk. The problem isn't Microsoft, it's all the talking instead of buying and playing games. It's a loudmouthed minority and pimps looking for clicks.

First, I know you know better when it comes to console price. With the exception of Nintendo and One and PS4 the basic console business model was sell at a loss initially and make it up on software.

It's obvious you picked through what I wrote. Understandable, it was a lot. But the royalty business model is changing. They have no choice. AMD is releasing an APU with more power than S and the basic PS4. So why wouldn't console gamers buy that. It's rumored AMD ha...

Oh, one more thing. Sorry, Steve Jobs.

Besides that $399 price, expect a new Minecraft to tie all of the devices together. They will use Minecraft to show developers how it's done.

Here's another reason I see UWP catching on. The Snapdragon 835. We are moving into a time where more than enough power for everything you need will be in your pocket.

Having a cellular modem built into your SoC and enough power to play quality games will be a game changer. Add the ability to make that work on every device a person might own at very little extra cost to the dev is hard to resist.

With the ability to cast to a TV and the power increase...

On whether PC gamers will go for Project Scorpio here's why millions will. Steam info shows the average PC gamer is at 1080p hoping to go to 4k/60. Tons are still at 720p. Polls on tech sites and AMD/Intel sales figures show i5s and Ryzen 5 are the sweet spot chips. AMD and NVIDIA sell mostly at the midrange level. 970s not Titans. So you're still talking about low 4k or rock solid 1080/60.

If Scorpio holds to specs and gives a good 4k/60 experience for far less th...

Allow me to retort. It's not hyperbole or baseless assumptions. I think if you look at the bigger picture and focus less on gaming you'll understand.

On the price of Scorpio everyone has these huge numbers in their heads about what a console cost to manufacture. The biggest problem with these estimates is using retail pricing estimates for a semi-custom contract. The numbers aren't in the same ballpark and this happens every generation. Yet gamers make the mista...

All the nonsense about BC being a waste is about Sony not having a solution going forward. It was PSNow, that is no longer a profitable option. But come PS5 Sony won't be able to hide behind the things that turned people off about previous generations, visuals. As we move to photorealistic graphics and dynamic resolution, most will continue to revisit old favorites. It won't be so painful to compare 1080p/60 to 4k/60 like it is 1080 to 480.

Sony is downplaying Scor...

That Sony executive has to say that. They have no way in short of building the infrastructure and software capabilities Microsoft has. Sony doesn't currently have the money to do that. If Scorpio and Play Anywhere successfully cuts into the low end PC market, and it will, Sony currently has no answer. If Microsoft opens Xbox to PC games it will surely happen. Sony knows Scorpio is a huge threat in that it could drastically change who is a console gamer.

That's why M...

Sony needs to adjust their software to do what Microsoft did with Xbox One for future consoles. Microsoft won't have any BC issues going forward and will likely soon announce OXbox support. With the change in the business model it will be hard to simply add the previous generations hardware. Microsoft's complicated OS will prove an asset from here out. Especially with dynamic resolution making revisiting classics far less painful and actually giving you something to look forward to. N...
