I won't be shedding any tears for any developers who played the small developers card as an excuse for not making a version a game multi-plat. Imagine how many more sales they would have had if they had launched on Xbox in addition to the other platforms. I'm sure it would have been enough to cover the cost and at least make it less of a loser. It'll go back to the original free to play model in six months and they'll try to salvage it. This is an opportunity for them. If they really push this momentum and expand the trade-in program maybe they can get the majority of Xbox fans on X and then do a few X exclusives.
Darth, not properly utilized is the real problem. Microsoft has a problem introducing new tech and then going "here, make stuff with this". There aren't many developers with the extra cash to take risk so they have to take the lead on new technologies. But here is one way I would like to see Kinect used.

Digital Foundry already tested this and the 1070 was pretty close. It did drop frame rates some while X didn't so it is slightly less. But it would work. It is, however, over $400 alone so just get the X if it's strictly about gaming.

X is listed at number 63 on Amazon for the year. No way that's a couple of thousand units. It has to be a couple of hundred thousand. So even if Amazon sold 200,000. Best Buy, WalMart and EB will do the same. Other stores will push it over a million in the US alone. So I'd bet there were 2 million low estimate world wide.

Limited edition or not, I bet there were at least 3 or 4 million. So right off the bat it is very successful. Christmas will bring more sales. So it could hit 6 million after tax time especially with the trade-in program. The question is will most trade-in a S to get them.
