SSM said they were working on a AAA new ip earlier last year. (that's why many people originally thought the last of us was going to be developed by ssm, before it was confirmed as naughty dog).
Datura is a way smaller scale game, and only a handful of ssm employees are helping out. Hell, ssm helps out with nearly every sony game (like at starhawk, heavenly sword, etc.)

You just haven't played the many emotional games then. I highly recommend Red Dead Redemption. If you don't feel ANYTHING in that game, then I'll have to assume you have no soul.

It's not that bad, and it's way better than Homecoming. Personally, it has way more elements of the original silent hill games (clunky combat, wide areas to explore) than the current ones.
It's not perfect by any means, but it's a solid silent hill title in my books.
