there's no embargo apperantly
He was the level designer for enslaved, not the gameplay designer.
Yes he's part of the project, but he's not the LEAD level designer, but rather just part of the group level designers that ND has.
As much as I love him, he takes WAY to long with his games. I know some of you will defend this by saying "time shouldn't matter when it deals with perfection."
Which I would argue and say, "I shouldn't 4-6 years just to develop a game!!!"
Look at Naughty Dog or Bethesda. Skyrim, a massive open world game took 3 years to develop. Uncharted 2 took 2 years to develop.
If I was Sony I would probably cut my ties with h...

You'll notice that trailer takes place in cincinnati ohio. Notice the street sign here: http://i.imgur.com/IvNKU.jp...
Colerain ave is in cincinnati. so is a denison resturant.
Agreed.
How many zombie games provide a real, heartfelt emotion? How many zombie games provide the real sense of dispair and need for survival?
until every zombie game becomes like this, THEN I'll grow tired of the genre.
From the tweets it says he's not the Lead Level Designer, but rather just a PART of the level design group.
Which is good, because as much as I liked the look the levels of Enslaved, they were pretty much crap in terms of gameplay design.
The Last of Us will only show us how good survival horror games used to be.
According to the press release it's single player only, and personally (judging from naughty dog previous games) I doubt it'll be open world.
Probably a bit like Bioshock in terms of exploration.
Yeah, who gives a shit about the trailer that will probably be goty 2012...pssshhhh
My Top 5
5. Tomb Raider
4. GTA V
3. The Last of Us
2. The Last Guardian
1. Bioshock Infinite
I'm sure it won't be.
Honestly, it's Naughty Dog. Every title they've released has always been top quality.
If this was some random studio, then yeah I'd have concerns in each and every direction.
But it's not. These developers have proven they can make a top notch game regardless of the genre.
According to the PR Release it describes The Last of Us as "survival action". Granted, I'm sure there'll be some horror involved (considering the mutated are freaky enough to scare Stephen King) but it won't be as much compared to Silent Hill or Amnesia.
Jazz Jackrabbit say's FUCK YOU!!!!!!
Cartoony Games like Jazz is what Epic Studios was built upon.
There's simply returning to the roots
the levels in enslaved weren't really that well designed if you ask me...to much handholding in terms of platforming if you ask me...the levels themseleves though were quite beautiful and never felt repetitive though.
That said, this is Naughty Dog. I'm sure they'll have a fair shake of input in the final level design as well.
I agree, but I'm a bit concerned.
To excel in the horror department without relying on going "pew, pew, pew 24/7" requires the game to be very Silent Hill esque.
I'm a bit afraid that this game will sort of play out like Uncharted in a I Am Legend esqe setting. Which isn't bad by any means, but I would like to see a real dark and bone chilling game that's akin to Siren/Silent Hill/Amnesia.
Could you perhaps name some games that you think borrow the premise of I am Legend. Personally I'm not really aware of any, but regardless.
I think you have a point. Yes it's not the most original concept. But to be honest, the concept doesn't really matter. There are plenty of games that are about survial, but how many actually excel in that aspect?
How many games have left you amazed and in awe of what you've just played? You see it's not abou...
