It sold 10 mil in 9 months. I don't think any console will sell what the ps2 and the ds did ever again. The DS sold that well because it was a new concept and the PS2 sold that well because it was one of the cheapest DVD players on the market. Switch is going to sell very well, but I don't think it's going to get anywhere close to the top 2.
It's going to get stupid when Pokemon comes out. The Switch is going to be impossible to find just like when Pokemon releases on the handheld consoles.
The article is referring to Japan sales, so I don't know what the date of the PS2's global release has to do with that.

I don't know if Prime is coming out next year. Pokemon is most likely a 2018 title with Prime coming 2019.
Wii U didn't sell that well. The sales of the Wii u dropped after the first month.
I believe the Switch version is a port of the ultimate edition which is priced around $50 right now.

Cannibalizing their handheld market is a good thing since the 3ds is on its last legs and there are nearly 70 million 3ds owner you can sell the Nintendo Switch to. The wiiu sold 13 million in 4 years and the Switch has sold 10 million in its first 9 months, how is that not successful. It's on pace to out perform the ps4's first year sells.
It's up there with the Gamecube for the best first year lineup ever.
I like when these games companies announce their games when they're close to being finished.
Most games aren't mature. Hell even most M rated games aren't mature. I don't think they actually mean mature games. There are E and T rated games that are way more mature than any M rated games.
Also game engines are now made to be scale-able. If they weren't most games wouldn't be able to run on the PS4/X1. Freddy needs to realize that FFXV barely runs on the ps4/x1 because of the Luminous Engine. That's why Square Enix is switching over to the Unreal Engine 4. Will the Switch get every 3p game? I doubt it. Will it get a ton of them? Yes it will.
COD and GTA are definitely for children. Very immature games, especially GTA. The humor in GTA seems to be meant for a 15 year old.
This is from a distributor, not Nintendo or Platinum games. I'd wait until they give us the final numbers.
