I did have some fun with Anthem, I really enjoyed the concept, flying was fun and combat was enjoyable...

BUT, content-wise it was never worth the 60€ I paid for it, especially when 90% of the armor sets (cosmetic or not) require endless grinding or real money. The way Anthem ended up, it should have been 30€ at launch, and gaining armors should have been a lot easier.

You can set missions to private to avoid matchmaking (it's in the "launch menu" in the same tab as party members if I remember correctly)

Disclaimer: not trying to defend the game, just letting you know you can disable matchmaking

"That's assuming there wouldn't be a hub-like section where you could browse other people's creations and download them. Since this is all hypothetical, I can assume this."

That sounds highly unlikely, if there's going to be customization it's likely going to be local and probably as simple as changing details from a set amount of options.

"Also, assuming players 'couldn't' share suit creations, I still would...

Remember when Assassin's Creed used to be about stealthy assassins, mostly historically accurate, relatively realistic with a moderate twist of sci-fi and fantasy? :|

It's a single player game, you'd only see pink neon suits if you made one yourself.

Well, seeing how the sequel is going to be a single player game too, what does it matter if someone swings around in a pink Spidey-suit with rainbows? No one is forcing you to make a custom suit, you can use the official ones as much as you want.

I personally love the idea of modifying the suits, there were some suits that I really love, but would change details on, like the weird knee- and elbow-pads on the Big Time Spidey-suit, the eyes on Future Foundation, the texture ...

Maybe just the possibility to pick certain elements from various suits, textures and colours. Kinda like the customization in Anthem (yes Anthem, despite everything they did wrong, in my opinnion the customization was pretty neat)

Have you played FFXIV? (genuine question, not trying to be snarky)

I think it actually has a great story. A Realm Reborn starts off a bit slow, sure, but overall the story is amazing. Beyond that, the world is filled to the brim with lore that has tons of potential. So for TV material, I'd say XIV is a great choice

Oh FFS not this discussion again...

I mean the final boss wasn't mechanically great, but I thought it was brilliant as a concept. "The movie ending would be boring for a game, so let's throw in a mega-Smith instead"

I loved the Matrix trilogy game on PS2! Especially the modified ending compared to the movies :D
"The whole martyr sacrifice thing works in movies, but we wanted a little more for the game" *cue the epic mega-Smith boss-battle*

@hungryalpaca Have you even seen the gameplay trailer? Fallen Order looks bland af...

Look how awesome Anthem looked a few years before release, and where did they end up.

If Fallen Order looks like it does barely half a year before release... I would not count on it being worth the money

"Gaming news" -_-

@SenorFartCushion I'm not saying it should be another TFU. I'm saying it's like they took TFU and took away lightning powers. A Star Wars game doesn't have to be that level of over the top, but this just looks plain boring and poorly made. And this game still manages to overuse force powers, like flicking that huge metal door open like it's paper or less or stopping blaster bolts mid-air. There is just nothing in this gameplay that makes me even think about buying this at ...

"It's creative because it's blending two powers to create a combo that is not immediately obvious. It can easily be described as creative."

It's not very different from games with grappling mechanics, pull enemy in, deal damage. It's nothing new, and it's a straight forward attack.

"A force pull followed up by any lightsaber strike cannot just be labelled as a dark side power because you see an aggressive connotation to...

The thing is, this game is set to release this November. For comparisons sake, Anthem looked amazing and smooth a few years before release, and it still turned out to be a disappointment (yes, I was one of those in denial, but I can't defend them in any way anymore). If this game looks like this, five months before release... Either it's still gonna look clunky at release, or the people working on it are going to be in a living hell the next 5 months, and it might still end up crap.

To be fair, EA hasn't done much to inspire high expectations in the recent past... So most of the negative commentary is well deserved.

"We saw him use telekinesis to stop a blaster bolt and then force pull a trooper to the other side of the bolt before releasing it into him. That's very creative as far as the depiction of Force powers goes in games."

Sure it looks cool, but I still don't think it's very creative, again referring to the fact that he's a Jedi. If we're speaking refreshing gameplay, then I would definitely prefer something that rewards a non-lethal approach.

I'll have to disagree with your disagree. It looked boring and lazy. It was like the Force Unleashed, minus lightning powers, and the remaining powers looked stale. I agree that it shouldn't be overpowered either, but at least be a bit more creative with the combat.

Then there's another thing about the powers and why I say TFU minus lightning. He is a formally trained jedi (even if only padawan). Why would he use such a Vader-esque power as forcepull + stab? It ...

They're being praised because despite how unfinished the game was at launch, and no matter how much shit they received, they still kept developing and releasing content. While I agree it's expected of big corporations to actually release what they promised (looking at you EA/Bioware), I am willing to give a small team like Hello Games some slack
