I realize this has been reported, however the issue was to many is it Sales to Consumers, or to REtailers, and this source, confirms it's sales to RETAIL.
Personally, I think the numbers are good guess-estimate, better than nothing. I'm sure there off by 10'000's +/- on all numbers, but it's still better than nothing.
VGChartz all year showed 360 out selling PS3 pretty much in all markets, and now the reserve is happening...
Curious how did you arrive to the 2 to 1 Ratio PS3 is outselling 360, when it outsold by a reported 100K or so this past week.
IF anything there noticing, is to releaese the GAME FIRST or on time in europe.
Cause the sales they don't make US market, for the most part are selling better in Europe than the 360 counter-parts.
Hell even Sony Exclusive games are selling better europe, Look at uncharted...US sales vs. Europe Sales. IF i'm sony, and 3rd party makers, I make sure my game comes out ON time in Europe, or hell even FIRST there (For a change). (Edit I'm not from Europe)
IS the Sales #, 17.7 accurate? As in is it Sales to consumers, or sold to Stores...Because that's what Sony and Msoft use to do in their statement reports. Not actual sales...

What I find Impressive:
Rockband (360) - 66,884 (623,821)... 600 K+ people buying roughly a 150 dollar game.
It really shows 360 owners are definitely hardcore owners.
Also smart move by both Sony and Msoft to pack in (Forza 2) and Motorstorm in bundle form.

What was reported earlier was just hardware on the front page, this break downs everything.
How does that make sense? If 360 got blu-ray it can read PS3 games? Ps2 IS on standard DVD and dual layer, does that mean it can read 360 and X-box games or vice versa, can 360 read PS2/PS1 games?
Smart move by Msoft if they are trying to prolong the HD DVd/Blu-ray war.
However if they are seriously considering allowing developers make games on HD-DVD, then one they look foolish, and so do 360 owners for stating Dual-Layer DVD were enough. It's common knownledge that in 07, between the two systems (360 and PS3), the 360 was easier to program on, and easier to get the performance out of, as it's closer related to PC archtecture.
It is one reason why alot of multiplatform titles looked slightly better or equal on 360 than on PS3 (As it required a different way to program and look at things.

I don't think personally PS3 will overtake in 08, but could do it in 09, depending on pricing/game strategy.

Not that VGChartz is 100% accurate, but it's guess-work, that give you an idea how this week/month/year/etc. went down.
Knowning MGS history, with delays, and such, I think this might be the Proper date.
Especially if GTA 4 is coming out in march or so, to keep gamers busy, then MGS hits, just in time for the summer days when school is done for most, etc.
Umm Everyone sales will drop after a few weeks, not just PS3. It's called post Christmas/holidays sales, after everyone sees the damage they made on their visa/mastercards, tighten up.
But everyone should show a similar decline, and not just PS3.
What I find interesting in this whole thing...
PS3 has sold Less in the US, than in Europe. And in europe they did with way higher prices, more software delay's, and most importantly less time (march 07 lanuch). This is the first Christmas sales in europe.
