IBM, Sony and Toshiba all worked on it.
IBM saw it potential, with it's ability to do alot of calculations lighting quick for servers (Blade Servers).
Sony obviously saw it's potential for it's PS3 uses, and had planned to use it on other consumers devices, but then sold their plant to Toshiba.
Toshiba, saw it potential for consumers device, like this above.
The technology is impressive, upscaling reagular TV in real time to near HD Levels, that's crazy.
I wonder how costly it'll be initally. USB 2.0 is fairly cheap now, i wonder what the pricing difference will be say on a phone thas has USB 2.0 vs. a phone that has usb 3.0.
A delay in which no new content is added, could mean paramount is switching. Why the delay if nothing else?
It shall be interesting to see what the specs are on these systems...
MY guess is they'll be coming out with either 120 Gig model or 160 gig model, or finally an 80 gig model in japan.
If they come out with 120/160 gig model, expect that as the next model to come over State side/Europe.
A server strain that lasted a week? I can understand that issue, if it's for a day or two max but over a week.
Sounds like they don't have enough servers, I mean logic would have been alot of people are going to log on during the holidays (Especailly on the 25th), create new accounts, and trying things out.
I wonder what the pricing will be, and if they'll release the new cards to Europe and/or America as well.
I guess we may here more about this at E3? Can anyone tell me the dates of the big conf this year:
GDC
E3
The Big one in Europe
TGS
Anyone else I miss?
I wonder if this will be the last of the news on the fighters. Remember Soul Calibur II had Link On Gamecube, SPawn on Xbox, and Tekken fighter for PS2.
Maybe they could do the same thing here for PS3/360... but like Master Chief for 360, and Snake (From MGS) for PS3.
This could be possibly one of the best PS3 to PSP features yet (Other than remote play PS1 games).
It really depends on the DRM issue....
Look at the very least it's got people talking about this game (more so now).
Alot of people didn't even have this game on their radar, but with this news, atleast have it in their radar, as possible buy/rental, etc.
The color scheme is terrible, just like Halo 3 Skinned 360, just ugly...maybe if they went with the Master chief Visor color it'd be better.
That's a possibility as well, with some sort of advertisement (Sort of like home) to cover the costs...
This will definitely differinate the difference between each console. Where most multi-plat are the same, give or take a few things, different characters, could make a huge difference in what people go out and buy.
I agree...The wire is one of the best shows on TV period.
And 360 has green as part of the color schemes...so Yoda for them. PS3 is sleek and black, Like Vader
Like the poster above me said, it has a chance as Data storage solution, however not sure how successful it'll be due to Blu-Ray offer superior amount content held on each Disc (50 gigs vs. 30 gigs). That's dual layer vs. dual layer... I know Toshiba now on a disc can hold on tri-layer 51 gigs, however Blu-Ray has a 4 layer disc that can hold 100 gigs.
Fact is blu-ray laser is smaller, so it can read/write smaller data.
One advantage HD-DVD does have going for i...
Well said,
It's kind odd toshiba hasn't said much if nothing. I'm sure they are strategizing, what's their next move, and talking to Universal and Paramount and co. to not leave, etc.
But telling sign is no announcements from any of these companies as possible future HD-DVD titles, etc.
I think this article just proves, all Big companies where there are millions of dollars involved, will use whatever influence and means they have to get the best possible view/news they can.
