I think possibly BD+ saved the day for sony, as FOX loves the protection it gives. Cause could you imagine if Fox left and went HD-DVD, the domino effect it would have had.
Could have been curtains for blu-ray, or atleast definitely not the position it is in now, and it would have affected PS3 negatively, if that had happened.
Just like all this news, will definitely have a positive effect on PS3, how much? only time will tell.
Yeah retailers, don't have the money/time to give the shelf space for a format that might not be around in a year, your taking about warehouse room, showroom floor, etc. All cost $$$$

They just can't come out and do it, without consulting their legal teams and stuff. They've got contracts, they can't just up and break them. Appearently Universal contract ends in Jan. So I guess they can make an announcment Come Feb were gonna switch. But there probably evaluating a few things, maybe Toshiba offered them a boat load of money to stay, etc.
First the HBO going Blu, although this more speculation, appearently these guys sources are good, that this is going to happen soon.

Interesting that BD+ hasn't be hacked yet, I'm sure it will be. But the word about it's demise has obviously been false so far.
That's cause HD-DVD had some sort of contract with WB, that's why Warner Bros said they'll honor that contract and release content on HD-DVD till end of may.
However it seems like they didn't have any such contracts with New Line and possibly as well with HBO.
This is one of the few Sony Sports titles that's actually good, and maybe better than other MLB sports title.
However their NBA series is no where on par with NBA 2K series or hell even with EA NBA live series.
How's NPD going to prove Japanese or Europe numbers wrong? all it will prove is how off their American numbers were...
And remember NPD numbers do not include the sales made at Walmart...which is huge (For all console makers).

I agree, and it looks better than those god awful H2 Hummer. I'm a fan of the ORIGNAL Hummers, the ones that looked like miltary vechiles...

Probably in the future, maybe as a backup storage solution, considering HD-DVD does cost less. Atleast that's what Toshiba hopes for.

Yeah it might be a mistake in hindsight for MSoft not including HD-DVD in 360, but it wasn't there tech anyways. They probably figured they didn't want to saddle high costs in the beginning for 360, REmember 360 came out in 05, could you imagine how high HD-DVD players were then along with 360's built all in.

TrooGamer raises a point..A game like FFXIII for example stands to do really well in japan (Just look the kind of boosts it gives PSP when it's exclusives come out on that). So you may see the now stead 40-50K PS3 weekly hardware numbers, bump that be 2x or 3x to 100 K or 150 k.
This is nice, however blu-ray won't take off, till Blu-Ray disc prices come down. $30+ dollars is crazy...
When will it be 15-20 bucks, yes I know some blu-ray are just that, and do offer 2 for 1 deals, but it's nothing like DVD prices.
I'm intrested as well how this MMO stuff will work on PS3, how much they are going to charge, cause most Ps3 users are use to not paying for online gaming.
