Your right, and if Universial is still releasing movies on HD-DVD by the time God of War movie is made (Gears of war is further ahead than God of War), then that'll be Irony as well.
The Irony of a game that is 360 exclusive, and the movie version, atleast if you want to watch it in HD, will likely be PS3/ Blu-Ray exclusive.
LOL @ sony turning down LOST cause it was too crappy. I surprised, cause they would get a bit of $$$ to have the game appear on their console, and such.
Don't worry to those who think 360 fans have left, as soon as PS3 "rumored" exclusive like another mgs 4 to 360 rumor, or the announcement of 360 ultimate, they'll be back in full force.
Learn to read Tanod, it talks about HD Group leaking that they took the money, when it was them offering the money.
Relax.
As well the link talks about the HD-DVD will now go on a smear tactic, to say Warner took 500 Million + to go blu-ray exclusive. When infact HD-DVD group offered this to both Warner and fox to go HD-DVD Exclusive.
". It appears that reports are starting to leak online today that Warner was offered as much as $500 million for their move to Blu-ray exclusivity. Seems to me, we told you all last week that money was being waved around (in our 12/31 post - click here and scroll...
I'll believe the news if NY Times or Reuters, reports on the rumor/offer like they did in the paramount deal. But having HD-DVD site stating this..doesn't speak volumes to me.
Was this a really surprise though?
When it was first announced you had a HUGE group of people who were in BLu-Ray Association. You had a huge amount of backers who made BLu-Ray players from Sony, to Panasonic, etc. Comapnies like Dell, to Apple, etc. And not to mention the majority of Movie studio support.
While HD-DVD had Tosibia, Universal, and Microsoft.
The fact there was only 1 HD-DVD maker for the most part, was telling...Yes HD DVD buying Pa...
This is at best a Future Alternative, like Jack Baurer said.
Talk to MAss consumes and they'd rather have a Physical copy (it's what there use to), talk to uber techies, and this appeals to them.
But regardless, this won't have some time, I'm sure it'll eat in some of the retail pie, but you think the best buy, walmarts, targets, etc. are just going to sit there and be like oh well it was a good run, so long retail copies, it's all online and digital? They won't ...
I think HD-DVD problem isn't as simple as you put it, this really rings home what HD-DVD problems are, and why they'd never was going to win:
http://www.n4g.com/industry...
How is it going to do well, with only 2 studios backing it now? And basically top 4 movie studios backing the other format.
If Universial was say Fox or WB it might be different...
Is it me, or does it seem like Blu-Ray association, ain't messing around in 2008.
First you this big announcement that Warner Bros. is going Blu-Ray. Then you got a huge trendy Company, in Apple that will be announcing Blu-Ray drives in their computers, and other devices.
I think you'll see a big push in the next 4-5 months to end this "Confusion" and end this format war...
Curious,
Anyone know if Warner Bros had some monetary compensation to go Blu-Ray, like Paramount did to go HD Exclusive or was this by their own accord.
It looks to be, they did this out of their own, to end the confusion, which is good for them. To me it'll be the studios and retailers who in the end will decide who wins the format war, not the consumers.
A rumor that is being reported by USA Today (Which i believe was one of the first to Report on the (rumor) that paramount was going HD DVD Exclusive.
It actually reported by USA Today and Reuters, I doubt they go to press without some damn good sources, and are positive that it's true. It ain't some blog reporting MGS 4 is going 360.
Just when you thought there might be some sort of stalemate, Warner Bros. Goes Blu.
Anyone know the upcoming "Big titles" released by warner in 2008 in the theatres, that will be coming out later obviously on Blu-Ray/DVD?
I don't mean in theateres now, I mean coming in the summer, like Iron Man, or Indiana Jones (I know that's lucas Arts and Fox I believe), what other big upcoming movies in the summer 08 are Warner Bros?
Edit- Wow forgot...
So then why does PS3 Games in Europe Sell as well as 360 games and in some cases better, with overall smaller install base?
I think you might see it pick up a bit with the release of DMC 4, which isn't available on Wii (However is with 360). Sony and PS3 need a few weeks, or every 2-3 weeks with a good must have japanese title for it to see some really nice sales over there.
Like if DMC 4, was followed 3 weeks later with MGs 4, followed by 3 weeks later with FF XIII amd then Gran Turismo 5, etc. You'd see some nice sales.
They have a DMC 4 Bundled unit which should sell some units, I...
Basically what Cmrbe said, Plus with PS2 sales going strong, it build brand loyalty, or atleast brand recongition. IF PS2 provides these new owners a positive experience, they'll hear about PS3, and say ohh I owned a PS2 and that experience was good, so I'll get PS3.
True Tanod,
And I basically agree, but I figured GT Prologue in it's 3rd week just retail alone would do best selling (Next gen software between 360 and PS3).
I'm curious though will Assassin Creed come out on PS3 over in japan, to my knowledge it hasn't yet? And if so when?
In HD, on blu-ray? Good luck ripping that (although some software makers are claiming it can be done), but downloading 25 -50 gigs of data? I don't want to tie up my internet for a few days to download 1 movie.
