He didn't put squat to rest.

How will banning work then if you have to do a 24 hour check-in if your account is blocked? Please, explain to me how this works because Major Nelson didn't explain diddly squat.

What happens to your games tied to that account since the discs aren't worth squat but the licenses are? What happens?

Xbox One's official support said that if your account is banned all licensed games attached to that ...

That is such an excellent point.

My personal belief is that MS would have steamrolled through their announcement and through E3 and no one would have been the wiser.

In a way, we have SuperDaE to thank for exposing this vicious and vile truth to us all, in order for us to embrace gaming like it was 2001. Thank you SuperDaE, even if you're becoming someone's girlfriend in prison.

It's crappy because it's based on exposure, not hard work.

IGN pays for the most exposure, so quite naturally IGN gets the most exclusives. The same thing applies to Polygon; they pay for exposure, so they get the exclusives.

Sorry to say, son, but we live in a plutocracy and the only way to fix it is to complain enough and get others to complain enough with you to incite some sort of change.

Yes he could ruin the PS4 for everyone...and the Wii U

This.

Why do people keep saying "they should address the DRM"? Why?

THE DRM IS THE XBOX ONE'S OFFICIAL POLICY.

It seems like it's hard for people to understand that it's essentially CISPA/PIPA/SOPA in a box.

The Xbox 1(984) is not a consumer friendly device. It is DRM The Box. Microsoft going on stage to defend those policies would have been brand suicide, and I agree, the issue sucks.

@Mikelarry

Could be a shill.

Even a fanboy wouldn't be that dense to purposefully go into a thread where the article CLEARLY lays out how the PS4 won't have DRM and then decides to obfuscate the matter more by constantly saying the PS4 and XB1 DRM are the same.

There aren't enough words to describe how asinine that is, but you could consider it astro turfing.

@mmccarthy4

Steam is nothing like the Xbox One.

They have great game prices, backwards compatibility support (even for Dos games you can play on Windows 7) and has a robust modding community.

Xbox One is taking all the bad parts about Steam and none of the good parts, along with all the terrible parts of Xbox Live, and jamming them into one smelly anti-consumer sandwich.

It is bad. Very bad.

The footage looked like someone regurgitated Battlefield 4 onto a disc and forgot to clean it.

No thanks. I'll pass.

I'm curious how the shills/apologists will spin the hacking when it does occur?

When video footage of little kids being recorded via Kinect start appearing online all over the place after someone remote taps into the console (just because they can or for the "lulz") what will people say then?
I'm dying to see what the excuse will be?

This isn't even a scenario of "IF", it's 100% guaranteed of "WHEN". An a...

We have power outages where I am quite often. Usually when the power does come back the net service is wonky for a short time thereafter, meaning no access to the net.

So even if the power comes back and the net service is still down until the ISP fixes it, you WON'T be able to play your Xbox One even if you do have power.

Optimistic?

There is no positive.

Taking away choice provides nothing good for the consumer.

It's like trying to find a positive in segregation.
How does restriction social choices have an upside? For what?

I don't think it's apologists. I honestly think shills are out in full force.

Did you see what happened on Reddit and how many accounts got nuked from that shill post?

They're out in spades across any big site where influence and company reputation perception is at stake, and N4G is the breeding ground of core gamers.

WE ARE the viral marketers for the core community and our perception will automatically determine who wins this f...

Ha, I know right?

It's so frightening because the measure between instant next-generation failure and instant next-generation success hinges on a few comments from Sony. It's almost nerve wrecking.

I always thought Angry Joe and internet stars are more niche?

I will grant you Sessler and Gertsmann.

Scratch HipHopGamer, I didn't know he was still around.

But I will give you Eurogamer (they had a great piece) and Edge.

The Americans don't want to dog the Xbox maybe because they're afraid of MS?

But the problem is that the XB1 is aimed at AMerican audiences first and if American media isn&#...

"Journalists" do a 180?

LOL, dude are you mad? Journalists aren't even that livid or anti-Xbox One at the moment. Many are trying to "reason" it out or find ways to spin the news.

Next week we'll see the fruits of their weekend thought-labors on how to convince people that the "Xbox One isn't that bad". They'll go pro-Microsoft regardless of what MS shows...they can't abandon the Doritocracy or disappoint the...

Oh yeah, go Pixel Apocalypse go!

Haha, it looks like all the smaller sites out there who actually have to pay for their games are calling to arms a rally against the Xbox One. This is great.

Too bad we won't get this kind of support from larger gaming media...the Dorito Pope's Doritocracy is a hard thing for them to break away from.

Where are all the articles about Redbox and Gamefly getting ROYALLY screwed out of this whole deal? They CANNOT rent out XB1 games and that's a huge blow to their business model.

I just don't understand how putting people out of work is helping the economy or the game industry grow? Worse yet, while Gamestop is still getting a bum deal they'll still be in business!

All that hate on Gamestop and they're one of the few retailers approved to KEE...

This.

Microsoft is always quick to say "We don't comment on speculation and rumor".

WTF is up with them responding so quickly and so many times to the issue if all it was was a rumor from some anonymous person on Reddit?
