The PC port is terrible if you don't install good mods.
But RE4 is a popular game, so it should come as no surprise to you that there are mods for highres textures, motion blur, depth of field etc. which make the game look MUCH better than any other version.
I played it in 1920x1200 with 8xAA. Unfortunately I really didn't like this game at all and stopped after a few hours (I love the first three games in the series though).
You and I, we both start businesses. We sell bananas. I start my business a year earlier than you. Over the course of this year I sell 100 bananas.
From that point on, we sell at the following rates:
You sell 80 bananas per year.
I sell 100 bananas per year.
Here are the ratios:
Year 1 = 100:0 (infinite ratio)
Year 2 = 200:80 (2.5:1)
Year 3 = 300:160 (1.88:1)
Year 4 = 400:240 (1.67:1)
Oh noooooo...
The 47 million for PS3 and 50 million for 360 are shipment numbers (as is standard for financial reports).
The reports in this article (NPD and IDG) on the other hand estimate sell-through data. That's why the article speaks of "install base".
PS3: 30.1m (14.7m + 15.4m)
360: 39.1m (13.7m + 25.4m)
Looks like Microsoft is winning in the western world.
Excuse me, but now we're supposed to be grateful/excited that a new Half-Life will come *at all*? Everybody wants to know WHEN, and it doesn't look like we'll be anything anytime soon.
Did you hear that sound? It's the article going right over your head. Wooooosh.
I was surprised to find out that Crysis really pulls 32.2m on the 12J. I knew it had to be up there, but seeing it measured is quite impressive.
It'll be a long time before another game cracks the 32m. Most games still max out around 26m.
On PC, it is hands down the best looking game I've ever played. And surprisingly, the console versions aren't *that* far behind. Saying it doesn't "touch Killzone" can only be considered trolling.
There's no proof, but it does make sense.
Have you read how much spin Sony has had to put into their PR over the last few months?
With no really positive numbers to report, they instead babbled on about the Playstation ecosystem and whatnot.
It's the limit when you implement the technology of Battlefield 3. Why is everybody being so thick about this?
Comparing MAG to Battlefield 3 is a joke. Have you *seen* the Battlefield 3 gameplay trailers?
Yes, they could have used higher res textures for the PC version but chose not to. Metro 2033 for example uses quadruple texture res on PC (2Kx2K on PC, 1Kx1K on 360).
Why? PC retail is about to become extinct. I'm surprised so many people still buy physical copies.
You don't honestly think Killzone 3 outsold a big multi-platform release?
I'm impressed they chose Call of Cthulhu as No. 2. Not many people know the game, but it is soooooo good and very atmospheric indeed.
Looks like a porn actress with augmented lips and a pound of makeup in her face. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
I agree that the resolution isn't that important for games as long as you have good anti-aliasing. But size is, at least to me.
24" from 2 feet is now the absolute minimum I want in order to immerse myself in a game. That equals the size of 72" from 6 feet.
But really, 30" is where it's at.
DDR2 vs. DDR3 is unnoticeable.
The 1055T is great for gaming though.
Yup, I loved Indigo Prophecy on PC.
But I'm not loyal enough to run out and buy a Playstation just to play his games.
With Indigo Prophecy, I know I'll still be able to play it in 20 years, on a 128-core with Windows 2030.
Heavy Rain on the other hand may not even work on the very next Playstation. Backwards compatiblity isn't exactly their strong suit.
2 > 1 > 3 >> 5 >>>>>> 4
