PC Games magazine does not use inflated ratings. Only two games have ever gotten a 96. An 88 is a very good rating.
It's just that modern game journalism tends to look like this: "10/10 for this awesome AAA console game ZOMG! Best game ever!"
I'm first in line to criticize Sony about anything, but in this case I think they're being quite generous and offering some high quality games.
Complaining about these free games is just pathetic.
Take it Gabe, take it all. I love you.
<<Looks like the PS3 will really beat the 360 this year.>>
Because it increased by 13% year over year? 360 increased by 60%.
As good as some games may look, comparing them to one of the most complex achievements in VFX history is ridiculous.
A single frame (games tend to run at 30 frames per second) of Avatar takes many hours to render, which is why Weta uses 40,000 processors.
It didn't hurt PS3 sales, but 360 sales saw a major increase. This is just a drop in the bucket for Japan of course. But it's not unlikely that the US will see similar percentages.
Sales Apr 18 to Apr 24:
PS3 = 19,033
360 = 1,891
Sales Apr 25 to May 1:
PS3 = 23,954 (+26% compared to pre-downtime)
360 = 4,082 (+116% compared to pre-downtime)
Sales May 2 to May 8:
PS3 = 20,883 (+10% compared to pr...
BC2 has nothing on Battlefield 2.
Few people will trade in their consoles.
The ones that do, do so because of trust issues caused by the data breach, not because they can't play online for a month.
I believe you. However, you are a sample size of 1.
It's Riiiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaaaacer. *mild applause by two people*
Answer me this then:
Why are there no exclusive Blu-ray movies that only work on Sony players but not other brands?
Why are there no exclusive TV channels that only work on Sony TVs but not other brands?
Why are there no exclusive music albums that only work on Sony CD players but not other brands?
There is NO reason for gaming to be different.
The better version is obvious: A lot of PC configurations offer way more power than consoles, so the graphics settings reflect this.
Regarding the better price I'm not so sure of the reasons. I think it's because Sony and Microsoft charge publishers fairly high license fees for every game release.
I play games (all genres!) only at night and with no lights on. It's the only way for perfect immersion.
For horror games, these are a MUST:
-> Night time
-> No lights in the room
-> Nobody else in the room
-> Reasonably high audio volume
No game is scary during the day time. NONE. You're too aware of your environment.
Duh.
How cute. Must be about as awesome as watching Avatar on a cell phone.
It's true that no form of entertainment has gone dd only. But that's because dd is still young. And the growth it has seen makes it quite obvious that it'll take over completely in the long run.
The book market makes this most obvious because download limitations and bandwidth caps have little impact. Movies and games will follow with a delay because the downloads are much bigger.

I like Far Cry 2. It looks and plays great. The only issues I have is:
a) Respawning outposts.
b) No civilians. If you see someone, you can be sure he'll shoot at you.
You don't understand the concept of a proposed class action lawsuit, do you?
Osama had a PSN account. No wonder they found him.
The finest RPG in history should get a 98-100? There's a problem: PC Games magazine has never given a higher rating than 96/100. And only two games have achieved this.
Which makes sense, because there are no perfect games. The 10/10 journalism just hasn't understood this.
Imdb has exactly 3 films with an average rating of more than 9/10 (9.2, 9.2 and 9.0). Game reviews are inflated like crazy.
