You're out of your mind if you think physical media will prevail long term.
There may be some collectors who see value in putting colorful boxes on a shelf, but the digital age is not headed in a way that will please this minority.
I would have to agree. Just look at LA Noire or the next Hitman. Everything is being simplified and dumbed down more and more.
That's what I fear. If this works out for EA, other publishers will follow suit, and we'll end up with an exclusive store/client for every major publisher.
They probably violated it on purpose, so they could have an excuse to pull the game from Steam.
You play right into their hands if you buy it on Origin.
If this business model is successful, we will see an exclusive Activision client, an exclusive Ubisoft client etc.
In what way? Visually it's the best looking console game in existence.
Carmack has become a joke. So what's he gonna do with Rage? Finally harvest all that mythical untapped power? From what I've seen of this game so far, he'll have to eat his own words when it's out.
Alright.
1st quarter 2011 worldwide:
360: 2.7m
PS3: 2.1m
Wii: 1.37m
You can't compare the averages between platforms. Review methodology is too different.
Mass Effect has 91 on 360 and 89 on PC, even though the PC version is better in every way thanks to a large number of gameplay improvements and of course higher-res visuals with no pop-in.
Come on Sony boys, a few more disagrees please. Exclusives are teh best. We get to play stuff others can't play. We are so awsum.
There are dozens of Blu-ray player brands and models. But no exclusive movies that only work on Sony models.
There are dozens of MP3 players and cell phones. But no exclusive MP3 songs that only work on Sony models.
There are dozens of car brands. But no exclusive roads that are only open to Toyota cars.
Exclusives must die.
<<and the gap is shrinking a lot.>>
You haven't looked at Sony's and Microsoft's financial reports?
They sold exactly the same in quarter 4/2010. However, in quarter 1/2011 Microsoft sold 600,000 units more. So the gap increased.
Here's the graph for the worldwide gap based on official financial reports:

It's funny how people immediately turn into thieves when something like this happens.
I mean everybody knows this is a glitch. Ubisoft does not give away its products for free.
Is stealing a car okay if the owner accidentally left the door open?
Yes, they always do these tests at 720p. Scale the 360 version up to 1080p like every 1080p display does and compare against native 1080p.
PS3 games like Uncharted and Killzone have always had headroom for bigger resolutions and frame rates than 720p30. Developers just *chose* not to use that headroom.
"It’s less about exclusivity per se. It’s about unique experiences that are only possible with a particular console.”
Uh-huh, I get how large storage and 3D may not be possible on 360. But all of it is possible on PC. So it IS about exclusivitiy per se, not about what's possible.
"We don't want Assassin's Creed to feel like Lost"
Then let it end after the third season with the most amazing finale in television, pardon, game history.
Seven people disagree with him and think BF3 looks better on PS3. Shows the intelligence level at this site.
Exactly. I mean we know that Uncharted 2 didn't max out the system. It used the highest HD resolution and ran at 60 frames per second. Oh wait.
How much power you need depends on how good you want your games to look.
I suppose you've seen enough movies to know how real modern VFX looks. 10x more power is not even close to getting you there.
