Yes. Loading times are much better now and more stable performances across games is another reason to upgrade.
I wouldn't go so far as to say backwards compatibility is a game changer. Its a nice feature for sure...and expected since consoles have become more standard.
The console is fantastic...a bit bulky but I don't mind too much. Takes me back to when you didn't know what to expect from the next consoles.
The games they've delivered thus far that are playable the PS5 are incredible and the dual sense helps push that immersion in ways you can't experience anywhere else.

I wouldn't say their open world was on a whole new level. It didn't bring anything new to casuals. It's just as hard as previous souls games for those new to the series. I remember noticing how after a few weeks it was gone from casuals minds. It was popular because it had an open world...that's it. The open world aspects weren't even that good. It was decent that's all.

I love souls games. PLayed them all and beat them all. Platinumed Demons Souls, Elden Ring, Sekiro and Bloodborne. Elden Ring is by far the worst souls game. It isnt memorable, its open world is rather pointless...it doesnt make the souls any better, the dungeons are repeated, the enemies are often quite easy. You can skip the whole open world by going straight to your next main dungeon, lots of animations are carried from dark souls 3.
