If you're on PS4 and have a friend on PC you will be able to fight each other online. Does that help?

The only issue I take with what you've said is the idea that Bungie has actually admitted anything. They still come across as if the complaints are heard but not taken seriously.
Agreed. I do love the option to run around with a friend in a game world that I love, but never at the expense of the core single-player experience.
FarCry 4 has been a good example of what I'd love to see in games like Skyrim. It may not be a hugely popular concept, but the idea of being able to just run around the world of Skyrim with a friend while keeping the main storyline limited to single player is something I could get behind.
A lot of things have changed since then. A PC port of any future Rockstar releases isn't the craziest idea in the world.

The only purpose of this project was to attempt to fleece supporters. If it had been allowed to continue on Kickstarter and hit its goal they would have walked away with the money and noone would have heard from them again.

I'm torn personally. The game looks like it could be a blast to play so I'll probably end up getting it, but that main character and the marketing for this game epitomize the word douchebag to me.

I also have both an Xbox One and a PS4. I primarily play on the PS4 so I picked up the PS4 version.
I have a friend with both consoles and he prefers the Xbox controller in general, so he went with the Xbox One version.
So there ya go. Grab the version you want based on your own personal preferences.
