N4G should stop approving reviews that score games less than 10/10
I don't think that journalists are the problem. Just look at N4G comment sections for any article, preview or review that criticizes a game, and god help them if they dare to criticize a game that's exclusive to a particular console. No, the big issue here is the toxic and immature audience of fanboy gamers who scream like children any time something is criticized. Just look at all the backlash GameSpot has received for doing more level-headed and honest reviews for example, or any ot...
This is what happens when you get a bunch of people saying "I've got an idea for a game!" without actually having a clue how to make one. I'd have thought that the first thing anyone would do before making a Kickstarter is to have a functional prototype, but since these guys got themselves a million dollars in funding maybe I'm wrong about the whole thing? Seems Star Citizen walked away with ridiculous funding with simple ideas and nothing to back it up as well. Now if y...
Dishonored: Definitive Edition is a disappointingly lazy remaster of one of the best games of the last console generation. I'd advise everyone to purchase the much cheaper GOTY edition on Steam instead (or wait for it to drop really low during the holiday sale) and enjoy the game on PC since it scales incredibly well and would run at 1080p 60fps on even the most basic system. I've no idea what happened with the PS4/XB1 versions of this game but I can only imagine it was cobbled togeth...
It's funny how they didn't remove multiplayer from The Last of Us Remastered, yet with the Uncharted Collection they suddenly care about the dying multiplayer communities on PS3 games from 2009 and 2011. This so-called collection is just a quick and dirty cash-grab, nothing more. The excuse they've used holds no weight when their last remaster directly contradicts this line of thinking. If anything, the lack of multiplayer for this collection hurts it even more because Uncharted 2...
It would look a lot nicer if they removed the Destiny, Sony & PS logos. Same goes for all limited edition consoles really, some of them have really nice designs but just get ruined by the logos that they end up having to stick on them.
Same goes for game cases as well, actually. I wish games came in cases that just showed some nice artwork, rather than having all the logos/ratings/text everywhere.
Well considering you were saying "you guys" in a comment directly following mine, it seems I didn't misinterpret anything. It's plain English, after all. Speaking of which, you couldn't even quote me correctly so it's pretty silly of you to criticize others for supposedly struggling to interpret comments when you're not doing so well at that yourself.
You seem pretty upset by this whole thing in general though so hopefully next time you stop and ...
Nevermind, I read your comment after mine as saying "I think people like you and Foxtrot" when it says "I think people like you Foxtrot". Simple enough mistake, unless you edited it out? The rest of your comment addresses "you guys" though which implies you're talking to the people who commented before you, of which I would be the first. Still, it's interesting watching you squirm :)
@Anorexorcist
My only console is a PS4 so yeah, it does concern me and of course I'm going to talk about it. It says a lot that you automatically assume neither of us own a PS4 though, do you seriously think that there's no way a PS4 owner could possibly criticize anything about it and instead must have nothing but blind praise? I'm afraid that comments like that paint you as the only fanboy out of the three of us.
Edit @ Above comment:
You ...
@Foxtrot
The fact that people are such mindless fanboys that they refer to them as "gods" should tell you that any criticism, no matter how mild, is a huge no-no when it comes to their games. The real fans of their games like you and I are apparently trolls if we don't mindlessly praise each and every thing they do without questioning it.
The sad thing is that we all know deep down that it's just a cheap rushed cash-grab, nothing more. Those...
That's because Rockstar fired all the staff who made the game the moment it launched. The game had troubled development and Rockstar expected it to be a huge flop so they just fired everyone. They were shocked when it turned out to be a huge critical and commercial success.
...but how many people are going to go buy MGSV on day one or preorder the collectors edition? So many people will always say, "This is bad" but never actually vote with their wallets.
Either ways, Kojima and the rest of the people who worked on this game will not see anything from the profits of this game when it releases. All of that money will go straight to the people who made the developers lives hell. Kojima won't even be working at Konami any more after t...
Yup. Add to that all the people that get suckered by preorders and season passes etc.
Bloodborne didn't get bad reviews. It was actually a really good game though so it's to be expected that it reviewed well. If something's trash then obviously it's gonna get bad scores.
Maybe they looked back at when Microsoft hiked up the price for Xbox Live and people kept paying for it, even though online multiplayer should always be free. Sony obviously thought, "People are stupid enough to pay for Xbox Live, so let's lock multiplayer behind the PS+ paywall" and surprise surprise, people bent over backwards to pay them. Now they're probably thinking, "Wow, we could probably raise the price and people would still keep paying" and you know what?...
I'm starting to feel the draw of PC gaming again, personally. I'll be sticking with my PS4 for a while at least because I want to play Uncharted 4 (funnily enough I'm more interested in the multiplayer than I am the singleplayer) but beyond that, everything else I want to play is available on PC and cheaper.
Some of us don't feel that way. For me personally I feel that the service has become less stable than it was in the PS3 days and the quality of games offered via PS+ has also decreased. Sony said they were locking online multiplayer behind the PS+ paywall with the PS4 so that they could use the money to improve the service, but anybody who isn't the most hardcore fanboy knows that was a lie. I think it's disgraceful if they try to raise the price of the service.
Conspiracy? Afraid not, it's cold hard fact. Official word from Microsoft is, “We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.”
You can find more information here: http://www.rockpapershotg...
I'd be more concerned with all the private data you'd be sharing instead. Windows 10 doesn't just keep track of all your internet history, but the contents of all your emails and even private folders on your hard drive, sending all that information back to Microsoft to do with as they see fit. There's a couple of interesting (and scary) articles about it over on Rock Paper Shotgun.
Considering they've talked about how the story will revolve around Drake having to choose between his love life with Elena and the treasure hunting that he loves, the title "A Thieves End" seems to imply that we'll see an ending where Drake gives up his life as a thief to be happy with Elena.
Maybe they'll throw in something heavy and have Drake's brother die as well, which pushes him to making the decision to finally leave that life behind.
