Yup. The LAst of Us ended up being pay-to-win after they added all the DLC weapons and perks, and it looks like they're going with stuff like that in Uncharted 4 from launch. Shame to see Naughty Dog being such a greedy studio with no respect for the fans that gave them their success, but then again considering these are the developers that pioneered the idea of pay-to-win in full-price AAA retail games, I'm not surprised.
Really crappy move by Naughty Dog. They'v...
"Plus, this is why a beta is for. The radar can still be removed easily I hope."
Remember the beta for Uncharted 3 and all the feedback they received? They ignored all of it.
Wait, so not only have they gone crazy with even nuttier kickbacks and Destiny-styled supers, but now they're just cramming in a bunch of features from TLOU MP that don't fit Uncharted at all? Stuff like the radar is confusing enough, but why on earth would you add a revive system to Uncharted??????
It works in The Last of Us because the multiplayer is slow and tactical, which is the exact kind of environment where revives are a good mechanic. Adding them to a fast-pa...
Yeah, a NaughtyDog dev (I think he was confirmed to be one of the lead multiplayer devs) was dropping a lot of hints followed by the ;) smiley to try and reassure people in a topic that was discussing the growth of microtransactions in Naughty Dog games.
It started with people discussing the insane amount of DLC for Uncharted 3 (along with the really disappointing season pass that was mostly recycled content) and then the pay-to-win microtransactions that completely ruined Th...
Honestly it looks worse in my opinion, they went even further in the direction of the third game and have honestly just gone completely off the rails, I don't understand at all. It's particularly disappointing as well because I enjoy the singleplayer in these games, but it's the multiplayer that I play for years.
The third game made plenty of mistakes, but aside from stuff like kickbacks it wasn't too much of a drastic departure, you know? The multiplayer they...
Honestly, a scaled-back version is exactly what this franchise needs. Something to take it back to the style of GT3 for example would be great, because GT4 took the series in the wrong direction when they started prioritizing realism over fun. They can still keep realistic physics but have presentation more focused on thrills than what the series morphed into with later iterations. Hopefully the disastrous performance of GT6 gave them the wake-up call they needed.
Shame they gave us no real information about the game during the reveal, just news of VR integration and country/manufacturer championships.
Would have been nice to at least get some basic info to put fears of standard cars to rest, for example.
Yeah. People complained a lot about Titanfall lacking content, but it launched with 16 maps on 16 different planets. Battlefront will only have 3/4 that content and much less visual variety as well due to only having 4 planets, so it will be interesting to see how people react to it when some thought that Titanfall was bad for launching with much more content.
I wish more developers/publishers were brave enough to launch their games during the holidays to be honest. Some of us don't like Bethesda RPGs, some of us don't like Call of Duty either and some of us thought that the Battlefront beta was terrible. At least people with an Xbox have something else to choose from and can pick up a copy of Tomb Raider or whatever, since there's nothing else like it available this holiday season.
Personally I think it's dumb how ...
@Mr Pumblechook
Sony should allow us to change our PSN IDs yeah, and there really is no excuse for not allowing us. If their systems are so poorly cobbled together that changing IDs would not work, then they should make PSN IDs the account name so to speak, and allow PS4 users to set their public username to whatever they want. This is how Steam handles things, where your account username is set and can never be changed, but nobody ever sees it because your public username is...
What was so great about last year's lineup? The only noteworthy thing I remember is new gameplay footage of Uncharted 4.
Yes Spotie, of course, an article analyzing the evolution of melee combat throughout Naughty Dog's games on PS3 sure is a hatchet job, right?
You probably didn't even read the article, did you? You saw the term "problems of Uncharted" in the title and immediately went into fanboy apologist mode. You really should give the crazy fanboy routine a rest sometime.
I read your comment, then I read the article, then I read your comment again.
I'm not sure whether to bubble you up for being funny or to shake my head in disbelief.
@NewMonday
Probably because Halo 4 was a terrible game. The Halo franchise might be huge but a bad game can do considerable damage to an IP.
If you want another example, look at Gran Turismo. The GT IP is Sony's Halo so to speak, and GT5 did so much damage to the IP that Gran Turismo 6 was a complete commercial failure, selling disastrously low numbers for a franchise that usually hovers in the region of 10 million.
Just goes to show that...
Tell me about it. I'd love to have a nice big exclusive to play over the holidays but it looks like there's gonna be a long wait of about half a year until something big hits. Really disappointing, but it's nice for people who have consoles that are seeing some big games these days.
I don't understand why Konami still wants people to think that he's an employee. They wanted his name removed from everything but now they're having second thoughts and want people to think he hasn't left? Why do they care all of a sudden?
Cringe.
Yup.
Just wait, they'll announce a Shenmue 4 as well, saying that they simply couldn't fit all the story into Shenmue 3 and need to make another game. Obviously, that one will need crowdfunding as well.
Scammell is a fuzzy wuzzy snuggle bunny when he's wearing a onesie.
Free? Have you forgotten just how much paid DLC the Uncharted series and The Last of Us has received? Pages upon pages of stuff on the PSN store, it's insane, anyone who complained about all the DLC for Evolve would have a stroke if they saw how much Naughty Dog puts out.
If it's anything like past Naughty Dog games, there will be a season pass, and then a whole bunch of content that isn't even part of the season pass and requires even more money, along with a who...
