@Ethereal on the other hand PC gaming's got a lot easier in the last 20 years and in a lot of ways console gaming has got a lot more complicated. The plug and play experience was definitely what drew me into console gaming in the xbox / ps2 days, particularly when PC anti piracy measures were at their most painful and shitty installers you had to wait and click through. Nowadays though when you gotta install games off the net on either console or PC (even if you've got the disk) and b...
man that trailer editor needs to chill out on the distortion/channel switch transitions, Jesus. my eyes
Why the hell were they running it off a HDD though for a "top-end PC" though? We already know the game struggles to stream off mechanical drives
I've actually never noticed pedestrian copies. Obviously this is a thing because I keep hearing it but yeah, seems like it's more of a thing depending on hardware. I'm sure there probably have been copies that I probably just wasn't looking out for but yeah hasn't been an issue. I have had 10GB or 11GB of video RAM, 32GB of system RAM and was running the game off of an NVMe SSD so I'm sure that helped.
Can you redownload PT?

I'm not spreading misinformation. I DO work in the industry, and our apps have been denied, multiple times in different situations for specifically this situation, and reinstated when those things are removed. Quit defending shitty business practices. These ARE counted as In App Purchases, despite the ridiculousness of that. It is to the point where we no longer bother, despite it measuring high on almost every clients lists.
Yep. This is a huge deal for products that work around transactions outside of Apples ecosystem. Not being able to sell anything without Apple taking their 30% and it running through their system AND not being allowed to link to alternate systems impacts a lot of things that people aren't considering here. For example I work for a company that produces free visitor engagement apps (apps for zoos, amusements, museums etc) and Apple will not allow linking out to the sale of tickets to see e...
Wow. You've created multiple strawman arguments to not only argue against but also get angry about, seemingly without reading the one point I have made. Nice going.
The original was 800x600 (4:3 aspect ratio), so they've changed it to support widescreen anyway. So don't give me that.
"Not to be confused with its rather middling remake"
And yet confusingly the screenshot is from its rather middling remake
Well, that kinda sucks. Couldn't they just make it so you can't hit enemies outside of the usual range? Or make them fade in or something? both options seem preferable to horizontal letterboxing
"Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is a game that utilizes dimensions and dimensional rifts and that would not have been possible without the solid state drive of the PS5" - Marcus Smith, Insomniac's Creative Director. That's the opening quote of his video dude. And that's the exact thing the developer goes into detail to dismantle. And nothing more. He also goes into detail to qualify what he's saying, agreeing that perhaps while it may not have used smart streaming lo...
Absolutely love it. Was expecting it to be pretty great and still blew my expectations out of the water. Big grin on my face playing through this game. A game where I actually want to collect the collectables 'cause I desperately want to see those memory vault back stories.
This was all about the SSD and nothing more. And it's not really a theory dude, the guy was a PS3 developer doing similar things back then and breaks down how, because of the controlled nature of the rifts, it could be done. He points out that every time there's a rift there's around 8 or so seconds leading up to one where a level could be streamed in in the background. Given that the PS3 had about a quarter of a gig of RAM to work with that'd be enough time to load PS3 level ...
Yes, congratulations! I don't (and also at the time didn't) think it was a 9.5/10. and that was 25 years ago. In the Duke vs Quake debate I was firmly in the Duke camp. In fact in the Quake vs Doom camp I was firmly in the Doom camp. When you take away the technical achievements there's not much left besides some drab brown maps with 1 or 2 enemies in every corridor.
errrrr.... did you play Quake 3? I think you're thinking of Doom 3 ....?
Here's a primer for you:

Quake 3 was the epitome of twitch mouse and keyboard gaming. Spinning around 180 degrees in a split second firing off a rocket in someones face then down at the ground to rocket jump to another level. imagining that on a controller kind of grosses me out.
Are you for real? It wasn't even a 9.5/10 when it came out!
Obviously phone components should be replaceable, not just by a "Genius", but by anyone skilled enough to. Personally I think all phones should have a USER replaceable battery. If apple or samsung have to add 1 or 2 mm onto their phones to make that happen so be it. Hell, maybe it will help their cameras not to stick out so much
