This digital distribution thing is a joke. Instead of passing on the saving to the consumer they are just cutting out the middleman (retail) and keeping the extra for themselves. What's worse is that MS tries to rip you off on the hard drive you have to use to store the game. So they rip you off on storage and the actual product. Anyone that would fall for this is either really lazy (can't be bothered to put a disc in) or just plain stupid.
Halo ODST a game of the year candidate? MS will have to do a lot more then ship out $800 360 bribe bags(as the did with Halo 3) to editors to make that believable.
@1.7 totally agree. This guy takes money (in the form of advertising money) and then says it isn't a bride. Then tells PS3 owners to talk to Sony about not receiving the game day and date (IOW Sony didn't offer them a bribe). Bribes are standard practice in business but calling a dog a cat and expecting people to believe it is just stupid and insulting. Just take the money and shut up instead of trying to justify it.
eh? I have never seen anything $1 off. Its usually 33% to 50% off. In which case I'll be picking up Savage Moon, Crash Commando and Wipeout HD. On the maybe list is Flock.
I remember back before Halo 3 launched MS said the Legendary Edition was on pace to sell out to preorders. What a bunch of BS. But its nice to know most people weren't stupid enough to shell out $70 more for a plastic cat helmet.
These so called collector's editions are for dummies. You can usually buy it a year later for half the price or less.
I believe Sony was already asked this question and they denied an extra cut was going to retailers. Whether that is the truth I have no idea.
@1.5 The PS3 slim should launch at the same price as the PS3. Its a replacement model. While the PSP go is a more portable PSP with built in flash memory that will be sold along side the PSP-3000. I don't like the price PSP Go price but that is the distinction between the two situations you brought up.

I've never seen a ps3 game install more then 5gb. So wtf are you talking about? Plus if he does run out of space on his ps3 hard drive he can buy a 320gb 7200 rpm drive for $70 or buy a 500gb hard drive for $90 (yes 500gb with a 3 to 5 year warranty and still 40% cheaper then the 360 120gb drive). Quit being a stupid fanboy and admit MS needs to add a bigger hard drive option and drop the ridiculous prices. That way all gamers benefit.
I doubt piracy had much of an impact. It just suffered the same fate as Uncharted and the God of War games. A really good single player only game. But a game that only lasts 10 to 15 hours. So most people rent it or borrow it from a friend. Uncharted sold about 2.5 million copies and each God of War sold about 3 million copies. But just about everyone I know has played God of War but only about 1/3 of them bought it new. They just borrowed it from a friend after they were done or rented...
Powerstone. There is a big vacuum in the PS3 and 360 library for a deep 4 player fighting game. I don't understand why Capcom doesn't cash in on this.
yeah I'll probably rent it for 360 but no way I'm dropping $60 for that... It should be a $20 downloadable game. It looks like a high res original xbox game.

The whole Wii HD thing he keeps pushing has me perplexed. I assume it would be a complete new system with titles that wouldn't work on the regular Wii. So wouldn't it be a whole new system and the user base couldn't count towards the regular Wii's user base? That's like adding up PS2 and PS3 owners. Any platform but Wii. I mean if they are going to make a non-HD entry into the series might as well put it on PS2 so fans of previous games can play it.
How exactly is the PSP a dead console? Its poised to have its best software lineup in history. Not to mention it has outsold the PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360 the last 2 years(worldwide).
I hope they really do fix this. It's a small thing but for people who do switch their sound outputs a lot its a much needed feature. It sucks when you start a game and find out you have the audio set to the wrong output then have to exit the game just to switch it.
@1.2 A ton of people is not the same as everyone. Even if stores only get 20% of PSP-3000 buyers to buy games its way higher then the 0% that will be coming back with the PSP Go. See the difference?

A lot of you guys are under the misconception that FF is only big in Japan. If you take a look at the sales data of previous games its split about evenly 3 ways. Per capita it is much bigger in Japan but overall FF sells about the same in Japan, Europe and the US. Now if you are talking about Dragon Quest then yes that series is even more popular then FF in Japan but only sells moderately well in other regions.
