Methinks some people have too much time on their hands, and overactive imaginations.
This COULD be deliberate--always a possibility that it's a childish prank--but more likely, coincidence.
People have been asking, "How will Sony fight the juggernaut of Halo 3?"
I think this is the answer.

It's waaaaaay too early to pass judgment on any of the new systems; for pity's sake, two of them aren't even a year old yet.
So, here are a few thoughts from someone who's seen/played nearly every system since Atari.
PS3: Still struggling a bit, but the price cut--even though it's essentially a "clearance sale"--has helped, and some of the promised quality games have arrived (Heavenly Sword, Warhawk). But I think it will have a hard time competing with ...

MS should have kept the Xbox around a little bit longer. While it wouldn't have sold at PS2 rates, one can imagine an Xbox for $99, with many of the best-seller games left in print.
Just producing the first-party MS games, third-party MS-published games, and best-sellers (Madden, MLB, etc) would have offered decent variety at a good stsrting price, not to mention what could be found used.

This could be a quality, universal format that would eliminate the need for the varied formats and confusing adapters (SD, XD, Pro Duo, etc) that confuse consumers.
Sony, Samsung, and Nokia are backing a potentially useful item (assuming it works, and assuming others don't try the same--which they probably will).

One thing for sure: All three companies are determined to win consumers to their consoles, and will likely go to great lengths to offer consumers great deals and incentives.

The whole premise is just unusual enough to work. Certainly, the concept doesn't seem to spring from Generic RPG 101, and if the gameplay is solid (which I've heard that it is), then maybe it will find a niche, and good sales. (But that's what a lot of people said about Psychonauts, the best game that (almost) nobody played)
Could be interesting...worth a rental, at least.
