To quote Darth Vader:
"Impressive. Most Impressive."
I've played Half-Life 2 on PC and Xbox, and I'm STILL going to buy it for the 360. It's one of the best games EVER.
And Mass Effect?
Bioware + RPG = perfect.
I think my credit cards will explode from overuse. Gad, what a lineup!
"...Target (which took bribes to support Blu-ray)"
Proof?
You won't find me defending Sony and their force-it-down-your-throat proprietary formats very often, but do you have proof of alleged payments to Target?
Sony payed radio stations to support their music (as have others; for reference, Google "Sony" and "payola"), and there's proof of that. But paying Target for BR?
Provide proof, please.
Most Best Buy stores just doubled their existing space for HD movies. We sell quite a few of them at my store, with Blu-Ray holding a small edge. (Transformers on HD-DVD may change that).
Umm....no.
I think the systems thrash it out to a roughly three-way tie this holiday.
Why?
Cheap PS3.
Halo 3.
Wii's continued success w/casual and family gamers.
Ignore him. His username tells you all you need to know about his frame of mind, and what "influences" it.
Fanboys suck.
They've been in Best Buy's system for a few days now, so it's good to see official confirmation.
Two good games bundled with the system for the same price as just the console? Excellent deal.
And, has anyone else noticed that both of those games offer good multiplayer experiences? Couple that with Halo 3, and I expect Live memberships to skyrocket this winter. More people, more pwnage, but also more immature n00bs. Oh well.
Come on.
It's less than a year old. While it hasn't exactly lived up to everyone's expectations, it's too early for anyone to call it a "failure."
It's also far too early to call the Wii or 360 winners or losers.
This from someone who has no intention of buying a PS3, but appreciates it after spending some time playing Warhawk and Lair--and REALLY looking forward to Ratchet and Clank--on a friend's system.
Play the games o...
@TheSMART
True, but what happens when the PS2 eventually wears out? And what about those who have never owned a game system, buy a 40GB PS3, hear about how great God Of War is (and it is), and wonder why their system can't play it?
Answer me that.
(BTW, for a second there, your avatar made me think TheMart had had some kind of freak out and converted to PS3!)
Truthfully, I think it will sell, just for the price point and the appeal to those who want a cheap BR player and Ratchet, Warhawk, etc.
BUT, will it outsell the 360 and Wii? That's the (literally) million-dollar question.
Sony has been trying to get PS2 owners to switch to the PS3 since launch, and I though this would do the trick...until I saw the lack of BC. Sorry, but I think that's a mistake. They should at least emulate it, if nothing else.

@ Radiomorph--
The number of pedophile priests is far lower percentage wise than the estimated number of pedophiles in the general public.
Don't make broad, sweeping generalizations based on the actions of a misguided few. Their actions were inexcusable, but they represent a small, small amount of the overall number of priests.
Chief did NOT die. Watch the final video after the credits.
A local church near my house runs Halo 2 tournaments about twice a month. Their only rules: Play fair, no cheating, no cursing. Otherwise, play as much as you want.
No backwards compatibility is the ultimate litmus test...basically, will people buy this for the available PS3 games and as a cheap Blu-Ray player?
No God of War, no Ratchet, Gran Turismo, Ico, GTA, SOCOM...will people still want it?
We'll see.
That list is making me drool...I love shooters. Halo's my favorite, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate another great shooter. BTW, the Call of Duty 4 beta ROCKED. It may be the only game on the 360 capable of giving Halo 3 a run for its money online.
I speak of ALL the models that have been loosed on the public in such a short time. This, of course, does NOT include the inevitable holiday bundles that will be released.
Wil4Hire: I sell games and game systems for a living. I'm not confused, but many of my consumers are. They're frustrated, too.
And backwards compatibility is a BIG deal to my customers. Why does MS have a system with limited BC, and why is Sony gimping their new model with NO BC w/best-selling ...
Core
Pro
Elite
Halo 3 Edition
Pro w/HDMI
Core Arcade
And...
20GB
40GB
60GB
80GB
and maybe 160GB
And that's just North America
Maybe we now have a better idea of why the Wii is selling so well.
Trying to one-up your competition with frequent changes to models and bundles just frustrates...
I think the point of the article is to imply that MS has seen higher demand for the 360 and needs a larger supply of drives for producing more systems.
BTW, my PC has a Lite-On burner drive that's held up well through constant, constant use.
While I'm glad to see some Disney titles coming, it's not an impressive list...not exactly their AAA stuff, though Black Cauldron and Sword in the Stone aren't bad.
Between the Platinum Family Hits at $19.99 and the Disney titles coming to Live, it looks like MS is courting the same crowd that has made the Wii a big hit.
Good to see Narnia and Fellowship...keep the SF and Fantasy titles coming, MS.
