This format war is about to get crazy serious: Wal-Mart is offering the new Toshiba HD player for $99 this Friday only. Now the possibility of a $199 Blu-Ray player?
Wow. This holiday will be nuts: 360 vs Wii vs Ps3, HD vs Blu-Ray.
Consumers for the win...or loss?
We'll see.
They forgot two games: Daikatana and Fallout 3.
Prey, despite its delays, turned out OK.
Also worth mentioning: The lengthy delays that Halo 2 experienced, and the multi-platform/generation bouncing that Kameo went through before seeing the light of day.
They're manageable...most of them will come through normal gameplay. Just have to remember to mix it up a bit with the weapons and powers.
And if the game's as good as advertised, then replay will be well worth it.
Holy crap...that's what I call a "conniption fit." He's going to have a stroke while playing one day.
That was actually pretty TAME compared to some of the mindless, racist filth I've heard on Live. Most of the things I've heard I won't repeat in public, or in private, for that matter.
All time "best" that I've heard: One guy who said "F*cking f@gs" nonstop for about a minute and a half.
I don't mind the occasional f-bomb (I'm guilty of them from time to time), but it's when someone just goes into a nonstop racist, sexist, homophobic filthfe...
Pretty funny...and boy, can I relate. My wife resigned herself to being a Halo widow after 09/25...but I've taken it easy on the gameplay. I mean, as much as I like it, it's just a game.
Oh, so YOU'RE behind this! Should have known! ;)
"Not all is rosy."
I smell a delay.
Ummmm...why?
It's an odd decision. And since I don't believe in conspiracy/payoff theories, then I guess price must have been the ultimate deciding factor. HD happens to be the (currently) lowest priced HD format on the market...and that seems to be the deciding factor.
All I know is that I already have more games for my 360 (in just a year of ownership) than I had for my Xbox over the same time period.
Achievements may have a little bit to do with that...a high gamerscore/completion percentage has become gamer "street cred," such as it is.
It's officially gone at my store...sold the last one Sunday. The 80 GB model has been scarce of late...prepping for the 40GB models? (Our 40s are already in stock).
PS3 sales have improved at my store, but the Wii and 360 are by far the hottest systems...360 Elites are nigh impossible to find in my entire district right now.
(Don't flame me...these are the stats from one store in one state. Just noting what I'm seeing.)
Well, it can't do any worse in Japan than it already is. The best indicator of any 360 recovery in Japan will be any recovery seen AFTER the holidays...if any momentum from Christmas is sustained through the early part of the year.
Give R&C another week before passing judgment...it's likely a lot of people don't know that it got moved up a week. Now, if it's still struggling after a few weeks, that would be a shame. It's a great game (finally got to play it on a friend's system) and I hope that PS3 owners realize that.
I would LOVE to have it on my 360.
So all that flame from the original post was just a lot of premature...exasperation? :)
KY as a southern state? Well, many newer maps classify it as a midwestern state. Besides, dumb crooks are universal.
And yes, Ky does have beautiful women...Ashley Judd, anyone? Or Johnny Depp? (J/k!) But Ashley's a knockout.
Dumb@ss. Everyone knows that thing's only good for shooting ducks.
This is just Amazon, and not indicative of overall nationwide sales. It's a decent barometer of what's hot, but not definitive.
All I know is that the 360 and PS2 versions have been selling very, very well at my store, and the Wii and PS3 have seen good sales, too.
Any word on national numbers overall?
Good, because those boxes are rather bland.
Luckily I have Game Xchange, Slackers, and two or three other small gaming stores in my area, and I usually get a reasonable amount for my trade-in. I avoid the three GameStops in town.
Plus, Slackers also takes CDs and DVDs, and you can use your store credit for anything in the store...so I took in a handful of CDs and got enough in trade to get Prey (Special Edition) and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Not bad.
My Best Buy store has hired three former GameStop empl...
This is one of my hesitations when considering the purchase of a Wii: I intend to download a LOT of VC games...I mean, classics like Metroid, Zelda, etc. are must-haves.
So how long until I run out of internal SD space? The idea of constantly (and slowly) transferring data from HD cards to internal memory due to a lack of enough space isn't very appealing.
A peripheral HD--reasonably priced (ahem, MS)--would be a GREAT idea. Or maybe an HD Wii, w/DVD drive, and ...
