So far the reviews seem to arrive at the same conclusion: Amazing game, beautiful graphics, but doesn't *quite* live up to the hype.
But will that affect sales?
No. I smell a million-seller.
And unfortunately, great reviews do not always lead to great sales...or else, Okami, Psychonauts, and R&C: Future would have fared better.
Leader, yes, but winner? Loooooong way to go before that's decided by ANY system.
More games and improved online play.
Otherwise, the system does have a pretty good package. But I'd buy an 80GB model (or a 60 if I could find one) for the backwards-compatibility.
I found a relatively easy way to destroy vehicles using trip mines. Grab a trip mine, severely damage an enemy-controlled Chopper, then toss the mine right as the Chopper approaches again. Achievement unlocked. That's how I got mine.
Sure...as long as I could hibernate for the duration...
Count me as one of the 15%...in fact, I've beaten it in Legendary twice. But I still lack most of the multiplayer achievements, and Steppin' Razor is the one achievement that most of the guys on my friends list don't yet have.
I do have all the skulls, and the meta-game achievements, and the Marathon Man. And the Hayabusa armor (but not the sword...yet). Only one guy on my friend's list has 1000/1000.
And in my first ever regular mulitplayer match (outside of tr...
If this is their swan song, then so be it. They almost single-handedly caused the video-game crash of 1983 and have been mostly a slight shadow of themselves ever since. But in their heyday, Atari was king. If Bushnell can revive them, more power to him.
The irony here is that Activision, currently the biggest 3rd party company in gaming, was formed mostly by a bunch of--you guessed it--disgruntled former Atari employees.
Looks like fun. Might be worth my few remaining points.
Good point, well-said. Agree and bubbles.
Loved Pitfall...and when I played it as a mini-game in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, my son thought it was hilarious to jump on crocodile heads or be eaten.
Ah, nostalgia. Back when the games were more about fun and less about graphics and marketing and fanboys.
One of my favorite weapons in any game...it doesn't just kill, it reduces its target to gory chunks. And there are few things more satisfying than watching it pass through multiple enemies in a line.
This says it all:
I just want this whole format war over and done with. I don't care who wins or why...I see this war alienating consumers and creating confusion.
That helps...people at work are always asking me how to identify the Falcon models, and until now, I wasn't sure how.
A very helpful article. Good job.
200 (relatively) easy achievement points from a fun game. Yep, I'll take it.
How about "Jack Thompson?"
Judging from sales, people don't care.
Maybe it will matter eventually, as HDTVs become more prevalent, but a lack of polished HD graphics hasn't hurt the Wii one bit.
Bad ports, on the other hand...
Looks good. The stark white background really adds some contrast, though it would have been cool to see Ryu strolling through a sea of dead bodies, wiping his blade. (Although that also sounds like the cover of a cheap 70s martial arts film!)
Can't wait for this.
Don't care about the specs or the name...just make sure, MS, that the next Xbox doesn't have major hardware issues. No more RRoDs.
Just when we thought this insane format war couldn't get any crazier...if Disney jumps ship/goes multi, then all bets are off.
I'm still not buying either until we have a clear winner or unified format.
