I think this perfectly sums up the disappointment many PS3 owners are feeling right now. One of their AAA titles, greatly hyped by Sony, is now likely going to be a trimmed-down download. Ouch. Even if the gameplay is solid (probably), they'll probably have to scale it down quite a bit--or severely compress it--in order to make it a reasonably-sized file, so a glorious 1080p HD title is probably out of the question. It's like MS making BioShock a DL-only title.
Will it still be selling in ten years?
Possibly; look at nine years of PS1 support and six+ (so far) for PS2
Will it still be technically relevant in ten years?
Unlikely; it has too many limitations in terms of RAM and GPU (tho those can be updated with a redesigned system; slimline PS3, anyone?), but could still be pushing serious graphics and gameplay. Beside, in ten years, MS and Nintendo will have released new systems that will further blur t...
Next, MS: Bigger--and reasonably priced--hard drive. SOON.
...one of the spokespersons for a major game company admit to mistakes and offer something positive for once. Now, if we could only get politicians to do the same... :)
My first tip to be posted! Thanks, guys!
I love shooters, and before I got into consoles, I was a hardcore PC gamer. I agree with many of those selections, but they missed a couple: The original Quake, and the original Doom. Hell, even though Wolfenstein virtually invented the 3D FPS, the only give props to Return to Castle Wolfenstein (yes, it was good, but the original set the standard). Kudos to them for mentioning Serious Sam (still a blast to play--literally and figuratively), but a demotion for including Prey. Yes, it was pret...
My man Stan and his friends in HD...gotta love that. Now, if they could get Futurama and the Simpsons in HD...
Here's a question: Can Sony afford to drop the price on these players by that much and not lose significant amounts of money (a la PS3)? My understanding is that Blu-Ray only represents a small portion of the PS3's total cost. If so, then a price drop could happen and only have a marginal effect on Sony's bottom line. Then, Toshiba would have no choice but to drop the price on their HD players even lower in order to stay in the game.
Another thought: This all may be moot. HD d...
...Most impressive. Will this begin to kick PS3 sales up closer to Wii levels?
After all, GTA: San Andreas has sold very well in Japan. Crackdown and GTA are both urban action games, and probably appeal to a similar demograph.
Well, in his defense, most urban action games have hip-hop/rap soundtracks. I understand part of your point, tho: I'm amazed at how many people come into my BB store looking for a black artist (Corinne Bailey Rae, for example) and assume they must be in the rap section.
Old one shorted out due to excess drool...gad, this is gorgeous, and perhaps the one racing game that can give GT5 a run for its money. Think about it: GT has set the bar pretty high. If Forza can approach--or meet--or exceed--that standard, we're in for a treat.
A patch to fix a patch. Gotta love it. As someone on another site said, this generation of systems seems to be based on: release, patch, patch, patch... (ad nauseum).
What if MS drops the 360 in price not once, but twice in that span? (Possible)
What if the Wii continues to sell like hotcakes, and also receives a price drop? (Likely)
At what point does Sony simply give up and cut the price in spite of significant losses? Do they wait too long, until their competitors have almost insurmountable leads in market share (could happen)?
Do they take a wait-and-see attitude, allow for more games to be released, and se...
This isn't quite the "killer app" the PS3 needs--it's not a MSG4, GT5, or FFXII--but it will move systems, and gives Sony another AAA title to couple with Resistance as reasons to buy the system. (I love my 360, but bloody hell, I wish I could get this for it). This is going to be a great year for gaming, folks; let's just enjoy it.
To Monster Hunter 2. That seems to be spurring PSP sales; the questions is, will it last beyond a two or three week spike? Nintendo is as dominant as always, and MS just can't seem to catch a break.
That's a minute of my life I want back. If I want irrational, uninformed opinions, I'll start posting at game sites...oh, wait... :)
That pretty much sums it up. Before that, I was "AngryLibrtarian." I'm amazed at the number of people who think the second part reads "librarian." I'm also amazed at the number of people who don't know what a libertarian is.
I'm hooked on achievements, which is fueling my frequent gameplay. 10-15 hours per week.
Don't care if it's cinematic...I love mech games, and this ones pretty close to a mechgasm....mechgasm? Jeez, I need sleep. Or caffeine. Or both.
