I love RPGs, but they are such a mixed bag, that only a few are genuinely great. This one, however, looks good. Couple this with Blue Dragon--probably to be released only months apart--and you've got plenty of RPG goodness at the end of the year. Can't wait.

I'll skip the already accumulating fanboyism and just comment on the systems.

I can proudly say that I never owned any of the consoles on this list, but I played a few of them. I actually knew a guy in college who had the Pippen...awful, awful thing. Total train-wreck. At least he'd gotten it for free.

Dreamcast was a pretty decent system, but by the time it was released, Sega's demise as a console-maker was a foregone conclusion. The Dreamcast is remembered fon...

Lots of downloads in my near future. I had forgotten about Yie Ar Kung-Fu...that WAS fun!

GnR and Whitesnake...how did I forget them? Of course, a good hair metal list would also include Poison, Cinderella, Warrant, and Tesla. Also Firehouse's "Don't Treat Me Bad" had a good riff.

Can't forget Pat Benatar, either..."All Fired Up" would do well on Guitar Hero, as would "Invincible."

Sammy Hagar: "I Can't Drive 55."

Clash: "London Calling."

Bruce Springsteen: "Cover Me...

Why? Because games cost a LOT more to make this gen (esp. 360 and PS3) and the best way to recoup one's investment is to offer it to as many people as possible.

Hence, DMC4, VF5, Tekken 6, coming to 360. Guitar Hero and Resident Evil going multi-platform.

The possibility of MGS4 and FFXIII coming to 360.

I'm sure there are many other games that will lose their exclusivity for one console and cross over to others. (Along those lines, I am still su...

It must have:

Van Halen

Motley Crue

Cheap Trick

Tom Petty

The Scorpions

Bryan Adams

Rush

The Cars

Bon Jovi

Def Leppard

Prince (Imagine the finale of "Let's Go Crazy" on Hardcore mode)

Those acts defined 80s rock. Gotta have something from each of them. I'm probably forgetting someone, but oh well.

This has been my one criticism of the Wii: How well will this hold up long-term? There are a few good games for the system (Wii Sports, Zelda, Rayman, Elebits, Wii Play, Wario, Paper Mario) and a few good ones in the pipe (Smash Brothers, Metroid 3, Mario Galaxy). After that, then what? The Virtual Console can't sustain the system by itself, and so far, many of the third-party games have been bad rehashes and limp ports (Far Cry, for example).

I'm glad that Nintendo has bucked...

I tried to find humor in the article (which is what the author seemed to intend) rather than creating some kind of reactionary fanboy idiocy.

Maybe he wanted a PS3 because it'll have a higher resale value than a 360, based on retail price alone. It's the same reason why people try to steal 360 and PS3 games from my store, rather than Wii or PS2 or anything else: Higher value at street resale, on eBay, or at trade-in.

Just a thought.

Light cycles, disc battles...can't wait.

A few tidbits about weapons and tactics aren't major spoilers. Gamers will still have the fun of experiencing them even though they know beforehand. As long as no one spoils the story mode, I don't mind minor leaks like this. Some of you may disagree with me, and that's fine.

Something to think about: Bungie may still reserve some multiplayer surprises for the actual release...and how do we know that Bungie didn't leak these videos themselves? Just a thought.

Thanks for using my tip.

As for the game: Possible online play: Bring it on!

So this is what game companies mean when they talk of putting a "Trojan Horse" in your living room. It's not about multimedia; it's about surreptitiously killing the competition! ;)

Come to think of it, maybe Sony was deliberately exploding laptop batteries in an effort to wipe out Windows... ;)

Kameo was a decent game...I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, and I found myself addicted to its gameplay. Definitely a solid title.

If you didn't like it, that's your prerogative.

However, it was not up to Rare's usual standards, and wasn't genre-defining like R&C or Jak or other games of that ilk.

I agree, tho, on Blinx...I got a free copy, and sold it after playing it twice.

Bring this to the 360 so I can play it! (Yeah, it's not gonna happen, but I can hope!) This is one genre MS has yet to fully tap: the action-platformer, whereas Sony systems have always excelled at it.

Looking good so far.

Wii will ultimately win because they're tapping the family/casual gamer market that Sony owned with the PS2. I think MS' appeal to the hardcore market helps them secure a solid second place.

As for the PS3...I don't know. They've alienated much of their last-gen base, and don't quite have the hardcore market appeal that MS does. Hard to call at this point...they could leapfrog MS into 2nd place, but ultimately, I think the Wii wins.

That way, the fanboys can't nit-pick over tiny differences in resolution or color or whatever the hell they'd find to obsess over. I guess they'll just have to go back to comparing the sizes of their...chipsets.

:)

Enjoy the game on the console of your choice. I'll have fun playing it on my 360, and my friend will enjoy it on his PS3. Win/win.

Even with the games division struggling, Sony's other major divisions are doing well, and Sony will definitely get a substantial boost from Spider-Man 3.

Less than a year ago, Sony stock was just a step or two above junk status...now, they're recovering. Good job, Howard.
