Wow...looks like Forza 2 will have some competition on the 360. Very impressive.
Don't know if this will help the PSP's sluggish sales, but it can't hurt, especially if they get the multiplayer aspect right.
The only people who buy Cores at my store:
--People looking for a second system for parties, multiplayer, etc.
--People looking to replace a defective Pro and are either outside the warranty or didn't buy an extended plan.
Combine both of those together, and we sell about one Core every two months...heck, we sell more Gamecubes than that! (Not knocking the Cube; it's just a really slow seller for us).
Memo to MS: Drop the Core, esp...
800,000 to a million apiece. That's a lot more than I read before; maybe I was reading the N. American sales numbers alone? Where did you get those sales numbers? (Not flaming; just curious).
Yes, by all means, buy the extended warranty. On that kind of investment, it's a necessity. (Six 360s and an Elite?!? Wow.)
Good post. Positive feedback for you.
PD: Zero: Did it really sell a million? I thought it ended up at around half a million; decent numbers, but not best-seller status. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone have sales numbers on that title?
I do think you misunderstood me on Ninety-Nine Nights: I wasn't calling it a 1st-person title, but rather, 1st-party (MS and its subsidiaries like Rare and such).
I couldn't resist. I enjoy this site, but I've been avoiding stories like this because they quickly degenerate into flame wars. It's nearly impossible to make a critical observation w/o getting flamed or losing a bubble.
I'm sure the content of this story will be subject to the usual round of fanboy idiocy, even though it's not opinion or bias, but raw data.
I'm SICK of the fanboy BS. SICK and FED UP. Let's enjoy the consoles of our choice, let's enjoy gaming a...
Very interesting numbers, especially 360's large third-party support--Lost Planet, MLB, and Crackdown. Kameo, PD:Zero, and Ninety-Nine Nights weren't big sellers for MS game studios, but with Halo 3 on the horizon...1st party support is definitely coming.
Not a lot of real surprises otherwise: Wii sales are accelerating, 360 is sluggish in Japan, and PS3 has been underwhelming (so far). The strong sales of Wario Ware (party game, so far the Wii's bread-and-butter) and Wii Play ...
Let me sum up the forthcoming fanboy flame-wars so as to get it out of the way and allow those of us with something intelligent to say to speak:
Fanboy (360, PS3 or Wii): Blah blah blah Xbots blah blah blah Pay$tation sucks blah blah blah Gamecube 1.5 blah blah blah I have no life blah blah blah...
Less powerful than the original Xbox? Basically, Gamecube 1.5 according to some?
Does the buying public seem to care?
Apparently not. Graphics are nice, but it's all moot if you don't have fun, entertaining games.
Score one for the Wii.
My sentiment exactly.
Homebrew has helped keep the PSP alive...this would hurt, rather than help, Sony's sales...at least until Dark_Alex & the like get a hold of it...then it would be moot. Nothing is unhackable.
The Shadowrun fan in me (from the old pen-and-paper days) is a little apprehensive about turning this into a shooter...but the shooter fan in me is ready to commit absolute pwnage.
Looking forward to this... and since Mass Effect probably won't make its June release date (darn), I'll buy this instead. Don't think I'm losing much in the trade...this may actually be good.
Looking forward to it. My store got our pre-orders in today...starting to feel some serious anticipation.
Graphics may suffer...but this game would be SWEET on the Wii. Seems like a perfect match.
Me and my cattle prod are going to pay a "visit" to BioWare Studios...see if we can't spur things along a bit. :)
Just kidding...but my drooling desire for this game increases everyday. September seems like a long way off...and if it's delayed further...
Oh well. Guess I'll just have to content myself with Halo 3, Army of Two, BioShock, Forza 2, Too Human, Assassin's Creed...
Why? The Wii doesn't need any extra cooling help; it does just fine on its own. However much this costs, it's a waste of money.
Exactly what I was thinking. Good description of the game. BTW, it's interesting to note that "hydrophobia" is another term for "rabies."
Most of the posts so far: blah blah fanboyism blah blah flame blah blah my chips are bigger than yours blah blah I have no life blah blah.
Here's my opinion: GT looks better. Forza will probably play better, owing to realistic damage effects.
Which do you want: Eye candy, or great gameplay?
HOWEVER, bear this in mind: Maybe GT5, which is the next full-length game in the series (and not a demo), plays great. I fact, given the GT track record, it wil...
It's not news. It's barely worth noting, except as a minor amusement.
Well, at least PS3 owners will get SR2. Better than nothing, I suppose. One of my friends will be disappointed.
Just one problem: From now on, any game released on both systems will automatically be subject to the usual fanboyism of comparing peni...I mean, screenshots...of each version so they can talk about who has the bigger chips, or something like that. At least this way, the inevitable comparisons will have to wait for SR2.
