There is definitely gathering. Its a very large part of the game. But you will have to fight. There are too many monsters roaming the maps to never have to fight. Also, there's not much point in only gathering since all the materials are used for making new armor, weapons, traps, and potions, which are all used to fight.
There's also no class system. How you battle is determined by your weapon. So if you are looking to play without doing much fighting, this probably...
No you do not. I play Mario Kart with my daughter with only the Joy Cons included with the Switch.
If you want to play with 3-4 players, then yes, you need another set.
But lets think about that. Up to 2 players can play with one set of controllers. On other consoles you need a single controller per person.
If you are talking about a Pro Controller that is different. Its optional and not required.

Yes. Plastic is higher quality. But would you spend $400 on a console made of plastic that didn't do anything? No of course not.
This is isn't just a piece of cardboard. Its got the cut outs to make the objects then the software. For $70. Its essentialmy the price of a game with a little extra for the cardboard and cutouts. Again. Big difference.
Saying its just cardboard is drastically oversimplifying it. There is software involved and games to play in that software. Thats like saying that our consoles are just plastic and circuitry when they do so much more than that.

I understand what a Beta Test is for. Thats why I said they need to get it under control now before it releases and delay it if they can't. 3 weeks is not a huge amount of time to fix problems.
I was playing the beta last night and was still getting dropped from the server and matches quite frequently. That isn't a good sign for a game that is supposed to release in a week.

There's nothing that can kill a good fighting game quicker that poor online functionality. If they can't get it together then they better delay the release.

Thats crazy. My 8 year old daughter can't keep her hands off it. We have Odyssey, Mario Kart, Just Dance 2018, Pokken Tournament, BOTW, and Lego Marvel 2.
She plays all of them quite a bit except for BOTW. ( I play that). But she was never into PS4 except for Minecraft and she doesn't have friends online to talk with. So maybe thats the difference?

Does the news of horrible online fornthe beta worry you? I'm nervous and may wait to see what it launches like before buying this. Poor online can quickly kill a great fighting game.
I play both. I'm currently playing Dragon's Dogma and Fractured But Whole on PS4 and Zelda and Pokken Tournament on Switch.
