I hope completing the campaign as Jar Jar unlocks his Sith lightsaber. ;)
I want to play that in the near future.
But those weren't released this year! lol
Oh god. You think they'll sand down its edge to such extremes?
You forgot the 3rd option: mark 'Inappropriate' for not sticking to the topic at hand.
I think a large swath of the N4G community has been in your shoes.
Nobody Wants to Die was a weird one for me. I appreciate its vibe, setting, concepts, and so on; and yet, the execution is wonky. It sells the retro-futurist noir stuff, but script could've used another pass-through. The dialogue isn't as punchy as it fools itself into thinking, the way world-building is thrown at you feels sloppy at times, and so on and so on.
Then again, I'm willing to humble myself and replay it to ensure I give it a fairer shake too. Wor...
Indeed. I haven't gotten to it yet, but the Fantastic Four addition seems to be shaping up nicely.
100%
Helldivers II is one of the best current illustrations of 'game feel' beyond the Dualsense gimmicks (which are also nice). The years of Arrowhead toiling with the shooting truly paid off.
-"Your opinion, but if you think this DLC was worth it, then you're seriously missing out on some proper downloadable content from even better games."
Bro what? I didn't state that either. Only that 2/10 is far too harsh given the site's scoring rubric. Thus, 5/10 is more reasonable to me. It does some things right, but it's otherwise just a mediocre expansion.
Respectfully disagree. That's way too harsh according to the site's score methodology.
Harsh, but not unjustified. It does speak to this growing sentiment about AAA titles not delivering "the next thing" as they so promise.
-"VGChartz looking for the clicks."
This is going to be a running theme for any prominent game that nets a low score, I guess.
-"We're reviewing DLC now?"
Since when has that *not* been a thing to do? Gaming sites have reviewed DLC/expansions since DLC/expansions have been a thing. Mass Effect: Burning Down The Sky, Oblivion: The Shivering Isles, etc. etc. etc. I don't even get how that's a critique. ...
I guess I get to be the "ACKSHUALLY" guy, so here goes. Amy Henning is only credited as a "consultant" and there were actually *more* than 4 writers credited for Forspoken's story.

But there's also more to it. On a Kinda Funny Podcast episode after Forspoken's release, Gary Whitta (Rogue One, Boo...
Just to give some context for what a 4/10 score means according to the site's methodology:
"4 / 4.5 - Poor
Before investing in these sub-par games, think twice. They get a few things right, but too many obvious problems make them difficult to recommend."
Hot take: Hawk Tuah puns rank better than most of the humor vomited out in Borderlands 3. That's how low the bar already is.
Hmm... that's a startling first review.
I agree in principle *why* the trade-off makes sense, but the end result feels like the worst of both worlds to me. I think a good counter-example to Veilguard is Kingdoms of Amalur: there is a certain "MMO-esque facade" to the NPCs and whatnot, but the open spaces feel grand and you can find great new treasures off the beaten path.
In contrast, Veilguard's levels are more like an elongated funnel with a couple alternative paths. It felt especially weird for...
@Redemption-64
It's like you're shadow-boxing. Of course game opinions are inherently subjective (outside technical bits). I figured that was implicitly understood with my previous point.
-"if you need the opinion of another person to tell you what is worth it, more power to you."
I'm just not sure where you're going with this. I mean... I'm in partial agreement about liking to roll the dice on a new g...
I still need to complete it, but it's genuinely one of my favorite surprises of 2024.
