I haven't played Skulls so I don't have any prior experience with this dev in particular. Looks like this could be a fun romp though.
Wow...some hair-raising info in there for sure. Thanks to Mr. Pfeifer for sharing some of those intimate details.
@choujij
Yeah, but that's sort of expected since Ninty begins selling at a profit for its hardware the majority of its lifetime already. The Wii-U is one of those rare exceptions for the company.
Yeah, I'm getting that cheap Borderlands 2 vibe from this where one would figure purchasing the Season Pass or getting the GOTY/Definitive Remaster edition would be enough already.
"I felt so plagued by that question that I even emailed him afterwards to let him know I'm *not* petitioning devs to include female options for all game characters ;)."
I don't find that surprising when there's a chance of perceived offense over some in this petulant community (I mean the viewership and not creators) at just the idea of bringing up the topic altogether. Since it is something that seems to be involved in the consumer conversation more of...
Haha...that one and even CoD3 could be way too tough at times, prompting me to rage quit.
@above
Oh...didn't know that was the case. Thanks for clarifying.

How so? Reports I've seen peg it at ~24 million units sold and Gamecube's at ~21.74 million. Not to the forget the bottom fell out for Dreamcast at a lower amount than those two.

This looks like another home run that has me very interested.
Almost made me pick up the phone for the police again until I remembered I don't have a wife! :P
I'm getting worried about all the colorfully violent titles you're churning up. Saying something about kittens in the next one!
Yay...exclusive--though vague--announcement in interview. :D
I thought the pre-authored content response was one of the best parts of this interview. It just brings up the topic about the mini Q+A and ties it back to something else and Rohrer makes an excellent, fleshed-out response.
Great Part 1 and 2.
Keep up the interesting interviews, Cat!
"I've read the stats and realized how rare violent crime, or any kind of crime, actually is. Even in so-called "dangerous" places, the statistics make it look almost non-existent."
The any kind of crime part is underselling it a bit too much. Yes, crime has been declining overall for various reasons (in US), but something like 1 in every 36 houses getting burglarized shouldn't be consid...
"The Xbox came in 3rd"
Gamecube came in third place.
"If there's a story in one of my games, it will be one that you tell yourself through interacting with the game's systems, not one that I tell you."
This is something that made that less-than-one-MB title Passage such an interesting game to me. A simple addition of a companion communicating missed opportunities compared to being solo was such a simple yet exquisitely-executed mechanic.
It was pretty darn satisfying to get the "Monument..." achievement in Halo: Reach. Really good challenge, expect for the final 5-10 minute part feeling a bit cheap.
Nice write-up, Sid. Does anything strange start to happen when you begin losing sanity? Do you begin to see things that aren't actually there or do you just eventually hit a limit and die?
I wish I had a middle name with hyphens in it. :(
Looks like its shaping up to be a fun tactical stealth game.
From all that's been stated in the interview, Klei seems like a very generous and dedicated developer. Don't Starve Together sounds like a great addition for the community to toy around with.
I remember Compulsion Games saying something like PS+ isn't a treasure trove but is still a great help (<-not verbatim) when their title was on it. I'm not sure what that translates to in dollar figures, but considering the marketing plus the incentive it sounds like a respectable amount.
I like the current look for the pilot and the overall design.
