Isn't this the kind of issue gamergate would be glad to see is being raked over by people like Sterling?
(Sorry for late reply)
I think his name was Sergio. He felt it was so good as to get some sort of legal protection on it. I pulled an old Einstein on him after reading it.

If that worry of launch-state, or around launch-state, reviews can be such a worry of scaring off potential customers months (or years) down the road then shouldn't that incentivize the developers to ensure their game's launch is in ship shape? Even if such a worry is such a big deal, aren't these worries ameliorated for Driveclub since their will be a complimentary PS+ version and (hopefully) a free demo for it anyways?
Putting these sorts of ...
"The online however is of course vital like both of us said. However it IS the critics fault for not waiting for the servers to be fixed."
I figured that would actually be good thing for them to do, provided they update the review to announce when the servers are back up. Being quick to inform the public about unavailable servers, which both you AND the developer have acknowledged online is a vital aspect of the game, can potentially make consumers hold off on putt...
"A bunch of immature brats who exaggerate everything and afraid of a few women."
Except ISIS exaggerates specific religious texts for their own means of killing, or heavily taxing, anyone who stands opposed to them and treats certain woman no greater than a piece of meat, including raping and selling them into sex slavery.
One of the greatest examples of false equivalence I've seen in a long time.
Thanks, Ezz. Glad you enjoyed it.
"...have seen a review where score got knocked down for not having a weather system, replays or a photo mode which we all know are on the way."
While I can't speak for all the stranger negatives being brought forth about the game, how can this blame be brought against the reviewer? The publisher/developer have determined to release this as a PREMIUM-PRICED racing game that some currently feels like a bit of an empty shell with several missing features. The com...
I hope there's not an ounce of genuine belief in that first sentence--it's what prompted me to jump to the disagree option. I remember that being a rather thorough, honest assessment and it prompted some deeper discussions about the DLC as a result. No work of criticism should ever be thought of as lackluster if it has two qualities like that going for it.
Maybe that's going WAYYY overboard of your joking intention, but I just felt the need to jump on that. Th...

Really though, thanks for the kindness.
"But I look forward to a mass effect review."
My comment referred to the set of ME reviews I made in 2012 (wow...time sure flies). I went with ME1-3 reviews a bit after ME3's release and then decided to expand to all of a developer'...
Sadly, no Nicolas Cage to be found here. :P
Hope everyone enjoyed the review. To be clear about one thing: the 'down' regarding the Consumerist Warning isn't meant to contradict what I mentioned in the written portion. When considering instances like this and future titles I may review, similar questions regarding dollar-per-hour value are bound to creep up. I think this just serves as a sort of "flashing indicator" to anyone stumbling into this unpr...
In specific instances, I can understand a greater inclination to follow an audience's expectations especially since specific genres strive after different things (more emphasis on a story in RPG's than platformers).
I'd actually be one of those who'd object to that kind of labeling (wrote about that too :P). Let's say we don't even bring "non-game" or "interactive experience" into the mix, some of the steam tags that I say for it...
Consider that and then think of the vitriol they'd get over the years whenever a random PS3 exclusive would get a less-than-desired score from them.
What? Why should somebody giving their honest opinion about a game be thrown into the lions of #gamergate like other people? Having a more open and honest environment from journalists is what the movement is all about, not reshaping their opinions to be more 'fitting.'
I really hope you'd attempt that particular game since I haven't really caught up with it besides a quick glance at the first reviews snippets on metacritic.
Would be cool if your's is the first Shadow of Mordor review I plunge into.
Get to work! ;)
Dang it. I warned you about the effects that could have to my ego.

Thanks for the nods, judges. Congrats to other winners. Hopefully I can catch up on going through some of those since the topics do seem interesting.
Hey! The contest mistake-correcting is my job! :P
Good catch. She must have missed the $100 bit during the copy+pasting from last month's contest.
While I did enjoy reading this piece, I feel a bit conflicted as to how much I'd agree with here when it comes to specific parts regarding the critic.
"The approach of a critic. . .will have problems and discontent."
Placing some kind of emphasis on what determines the weight this or that complaint to your overall assessment by the audience itself isn't something I'm inclined to agree with. This holds especially true since a vocal porti...
coolbeans loves his chicken spicy. :P
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
I enjoyed the review, Foglight.
Since I haven't kept up with the game at all, I'm very interested in picking it up down the road due to this Nemesis system. Seems like an interesting concept.
